Does Simmons want to push that fatigue roll? If so, you can only reroll your Stamina die.
OOC:
Simmons has a RANGER STAMINA Specialty, so he should have a +1 to "...Gives you a +1 modifier to STAMINA rolls made for marching, resisting hypothermia, and other hardships.", Right?
Either way i will push the result. IIRC that is re-roll the die that did not get a '1', right?
PUSH Fatigue determination - (re-roll D10)
Specialty +1 = increase in die size, so a d10 +1 = d12. Reroll as a d12.

Rust helps McDonald with equipment checks, checks McDonald for cold injury. Then proceeds to check his weapons, and ammo belts.

"Staff Sarn't Simmons, I regret to report, I *definitely* have arthritis in my knee." Rust griped when Simmons began to check him, but chuckled when he said it. "Just gotta adapt and overcome."

Did you remember to go up one die size for your success with the ski poles? Please reroll either your stamina as a die larger or your strength as a die larger. Thanks.

I am holding pending Justin’s reroll for fatigue. Then I’ll have the next leg of the training movement ready to get posted. I’ll be working on streamlining some of these dice rolls and trying to get this working more smoothly. Being my first time GMing T2k 4ed play by post, I’m finding spots for learning opportunities and improvements and this is one of them.

Reroll of fatigue - missed the die add

Fatigue (STR) Reroll - (1d12)

Ahhhhh… that sucks. But this is a good opportunity for Doc Cristea to do his stuff… I’ll pause here to give a chance for any replies.
Rust notices that Justin seems a bit out of sorts. To double check the Canadian, he waves Simmons over to make sure.
Sep 17, 2026 11:21 pm
SSG Simmons sees Rust's concern and starts to make his way over.
"I thought the cannuk would be alright in this weather" He says to himself in the snow as he moves over
"Hey Doc!" he calls out to Dr. Cristea (tag @Mephistophilis) and Simmons waves the doctor over.

When he gets there he asks Rust (tag @Jomsviking)
"What's the story?"

In a daze Justin starts to hear commotion around him. He awkwardly mutters, "I'm fine," but clearly he is not.
OOC:
Yes, clearly embarrassing that it is the Canadian that is struggling with the fatigue when he did so well with his skis. :)

He thought better and over exerted himself and ignored the signs bc he did this all the time in CFB Petawawa

"'...ey Mack." Rooster snapped in front of McDonald's face placing his free hand on Justin's shoulder to steady him. "Mack." Rooster said for the third time as MacDonald focused. "There you are."

When Simmons demanded a report Rust tried his best with his limited understanding of first aid. "He dazed, bit snowblind. He was real steady on them skis then when we stopped..." Rust gestured to MacDonald's state. He was not a doctor. "Well you see."

"Good Work. Just make sure our Cannuk has not over exerted himself and is over-heating. I will go see the El-Tee and Sergeant McBride"

Simmons then goes to SSG McBride and reports on MacDonald and recommends to get him out of the cold and have the Doc check him.

"Should we shelter in the cabin?" Ana asks, "Warm him up with fireside?"
Sep 18, 2026 9:14 pm
At the shout, Cristea moves immediately. Any stiffness from the march forgotten as he bustles across, shouldering rather more forcefully past anyone in the way than they might have expected from him. 'Give me room.'

He crouches in front of Justin, one gloved hand steadying the man's chin while the other produces a small torch from his medical bag. A brief flash into one eye, then the other. He watches the response, studies the face and breathing. Then presses two fingers against the side of Justin's neck to feel his pulse.

'MacDonald. Look at me.' His tone is quite different now: clipped, precise, expecting obedience. 'Tell me your name. Where are we? Any dizziness? Nausea? Headache? Can you feel your fingers?' At Justin's insistence that he is fine, Cristea's mouth tightens. 'Yes, yes. Fine. Of course you are. And I am very much not fine until I have examined you properly.'

He continues the examination before glancing briefly toward Simmons. 'It would appear that even the finest equipment American dollars can buy cannot protect a soldier from his own stubborn pride.' Then he returns his full attention to Justin.

OOC:
Woot. I think that's 4 successes

Excellent!
The congregation around MacDonald quickly draws concerns from McBride, especially when he sees Doctor Cristea moving over to the Canuck as well. As he begins to add his presence to the growing crowd, he makes eye contact with LT Thrace with a look that says ‘I’ve got this’. Thrace turns back to study the terrain and weather in the growing light.

By the time McBride arrives, the doctor has already completed his assessment and pulled together a few quick items. He activates and hands MacDonald a couple of chemical heating packs. "Put these in your armpits. Then Cristea hands MacDonald 4 small brown packets gleaned from old MREs. "Coffee. Don’t wait to brew up. Just pour them in your mouth, chew and swallow. The other two are sugar. You don’t have to chew them, just pour them in your mouth and swallow with this." Cristea hands Mac an insulated canteen. "Electrolytes.

McBride watches, then turns to Simmons. "Report. What happened?"

He listens to Simmons report, watching the Doctor work and looking for the results on MacDonald’s face…

Outside, but on the lee side, sheltered from the wind.

Simmons turns toward McBride as the Sergeant arrives, keeping his voice low enough not to add to the crowd around MacDonald.

"Sergeant, McCain spotted it first. MacDonald was acting out of sorts when we stopped. Rust got his attention and called me over. By the time I got to him, Mac was dazed and slow to focus. He kept saying he was fine, but he clearly wasn't acting like himself."

Simmons glances toward MacDonald as Cristea continues working.

"Rust said he'd been steady on the movement and did fine on the skis, then started looking like this after we halted. He thought maybe some snow blindness. I was also concerned he'd pushed himself too hard or gotten overheated under all the cold-weather gear, so I called Doc over right away."

He nods toward Cristea and the heating packs now tucked under MacDonald's arms.

"Doc took over the medical check. He's got Mac on warming packs, caffeine, sugar and electrolytes now. Before you came over, I was going to recommend we get him out of the wind and into the cabin while Doc finishes evaluating him."

Simmons looks back to McBride.

"Bottom line, Sergeant: he was moving well until the halt, then became dazed and wasn't responding normally. McCain caught it early, Doc's on him now, and I recommend we shelter him until Doc says he's good to continue."
