Hi, running to get my application in at the last minute! I'm honored that you name dropped my game in your post, and I'm interested in exploring those themes of alienation and political violence that our settings explore. I'm interested in hearing a more spiritual, if not WtA-style animist, take on these themes. My vampire game is definitely leaning more into the earthly, social realities of gentrification and exploitation.

As for my character concept, I want to try playing a Glass Walker Galliard. My quiz result in the past was Fianna/Hart Warden, but this Glass Walker is an attempt to make a positive connection between the ecology and urban development of Florida, instead of just demonizing all technology and progress as bad. I want my Galliard to do this by making a digital archive of friends, heroes, and comrades who combine progress with care and responsibility for the environment. In other words, heroes who wage careful and bold war against the Wyrm, whether they be Garou or mortal.

For my experience, I have never played W5, but I am a huge WoD fan and I've played some W20 so I know the general lore, if not the current metaplot. I have also played a fair amount of V5 and H5 so I understand how the 5th edition system works, and I'm excited to see how it will translate to Werewolf.

Hey all! Life got a little busy for me so I figured I'll keep this open a little longer. I'll send invites out on Saturday night.

Lemme respond to some applications now.

@PetRaccoon, it does look like there is space in the storytelling to explore your character finding their tribe. From page 43 of the rulebook:
Quote:
After learning that they are Garou, werewolves learn about their spiritual aptitudes and (usually) form a relationship with a Patron Spirit — a unique and quite personal journey for each Garou. Some feel solidarity with a certain perspective and seek out the Patron Spirit, and thus the tribe, that best matches that perspective. Others describe having a vision or similar epiphany that indicates their tribe has chosen them, rather than the reverse. Some have the benefit of a mentor to guide them. Some learn through very bloody self-discovery.
Whatever the case, the neophyte Garou undergoes a ritual, makes a pledge, or otherwise associates themselves with the Patron Spirit, thus bonding them with that tribe. This transition usually occurs under the guidance of another Garou, and quite often one who was present at their First Change. A Garou need not always bond with the same tribe as their Garou mentor, but this outcome is probably the most common one...
So I am open to this approach to your character, especially since I said I intended for the game to explore the experiences of young Garou! In this case, you don't need to choose a tribe in your application.

@Cakestory, your character concept is pretty interesting, it reminds me of the trajectory of a Brujah vampire (as someone who plays a Brujah in VtM games, hehehe.) I like the idea of Sally struggling with the power she wields as a Black Fury ahroun.

I would like to see how these ideas are grounded in her backstory--do you have any ideas re: who she was before her First Change, her age, whether she's from Florida or another place? You don't need to answer all of these but would like to hear some more about this concept. (I also notice that your latest post has a note but I'm unable to open it.)

Sorry, I'm still new to the formatting, didn't realise I had to put a receiver. Everything in the note is also in this post.
If Sally dropped out of college 7 months ago she should be around 20-22 I think?
Honestly I don't know enough about us states to put her somewhere meaningful, it just needs to not be Florida.

Backstory
Who Sally was before her first change is at the same time both the least and most important thing about her. On one hand she has lost that side of herself to her new Garou existence; and on the other it represents what she would be if she only had the space to breathe. Before her first change Sally had a strong support network, was a climate activist, active in local politics and a hothead. After her first change, and hitchhike to Florida, she has kept only one of those things.

Now Sally is poor, confused, scared and out of options. During her first change she murdered her professor who, although a climate change denier, was all around a good person. Obviously she dropped out of college and fled the state as a result. Student loans are hard to pay off on minimum wage, but it's better than prison.

Since then Sally's been desperately trying to keep her anger under control. Although she's recognised the rage as at least in part the werewolf's fault, preventing her from being devaoured and swallowed by self hate, it's still very much an issue. Just six days ago she killed her landlord when he was trying to evict a struggling family. Now she's stuck in a concrete block in the worst part of the city.

Sally's outburst have not been helped by her only connection to her tribe. A drain snake stalking her throughout the city, egging her anger on. She perceives this manifestation of Gorgon not as a helpful mentor, but as a scheming, mocking pitfall. Yet she keeps listening to it, even when it's not there.

How and when Sally meets her pack, and why she joins it is to be determined when I learn more about the start of the story.

Applications are now closed! Thank you all for applying.

@Jotan, @Dominic, @Morphling, @Cakestory, @PetRaccoon, and @DragonDweller62 -- I will be sending you all invites to the game shortly! It looks like we have a mix of younger as well as more experienced Garou, which will make for an interesting pack dynamic.

Just tying up loose ends below...
Dominic says:
Being a Wolf-born, aspects are a little bit changed, more primal. I hope this is fitting for your intention.
Thanks for sharing these with me! I'd be interested in exploring a Wolf-born's approach to their auspice with you!
Jotan says:
...I’d definitely want to play some sort of occult character. In my mind my park ranger had a connection to Umbra and the spirits, trying to relocate and care for spiritual life that has been displaced by pollution and other Wyrm activity. It could also be fun to play the process of winning the spirit’s trust.
I'm glad that you're interested in the conflict I brought up. I really like this rehabilitative position you're interested in exploring as a park ranger, bringing in the spiritual side of environmental work. Initially I thought that occultism had to do with New Age spiritualism and witchcraft, but simply means hidden supernatural knowledge...a la the Umbra. You were fully on the right track there.

I'm also interested in exploring WtA's animist cosmology! And I really like your CC's perspective on technology and development, it will be interesting to see how the pack responds to their approach and how preserving hope & history are part of the fight against the Apocalypse.

No worries, I'm new to the formatting too.

Thanks for sharing more about Sally, this helped me get a better sense of who and where she is at the moment. That she lost everything after her first change, and that she is currently unable to break the cycle of her murderous rage, is very compelling to me. Her antagonistic relationship to her Patron Spirit is very interesting too. I will keep these details in mind as we prepare and play.

Perhaps joining the pack can be a chance for her to rebuild her support system.

Thanks again to all of you, looking forward to playing as soon as we can!
