Best in Show?

There are a looooot of RPG genres out there. You’ve got Fantasy, High Fantasy, Low Fantasy, Mud and Blood Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Space Horror, Post-Apocalyptic, Modern… well, you get the idea.

What, in your opinion, is the quintessential RPG in a genre of your choice? Something you’d reach for when your friends say "Let’s play a {insert genre here} game next time!"

World of Darkness is so legendary in the Wainscot Fantasy genre that it seems hard to go without it in it.

The One, The Only…Not only is this my favorite Free League offering, it’s up there for one of my favorites of all time. Now, I haven’t tried All Flesh Must Be Eaten which, I’m told, is the one to beat in the Zombie RPG category. But what do I want from my Zombies; stat blocks? Nay!

The Walking Dead is smooth as butter! The zombies are there when you’re at your lowest, your most fragile! If you like Zombies and Zombie RPGs, you need to try this!

I tried homebrewing my own zombie RPG many years ago, when the genre was relatively fresh and unrotted. TWDU does everything I was amateurishly trying to do, both intentionally and unconsciously (treating the zombies as an ebbing and rising horde, psychological damage in a world where horror is the norm, expendable NPCs, community building...), and does so effortlessly and successfully.
