Dear Gamers Plane community,
nice to meet you all! My name is Stefan (47 years) from the south of Germany and I have been playing TTRPGs since my teenager years with quite a long break after university until roughly 5 years ago. I have been getting back into the hobby around the pandemic and since then learned to enjoy playing RPGs online through VTTs.
Originally, I mainly played pretty crunchy games like "The Black Eye", "Shadowrun" and "AD&D 2nd edition" - mainly as player. Since I restarted I am getting more and more into rules light OSR and NSR games and have mainly played as a DM. Just to name a few systems I have played the last few years: Pirate Borg, Mothership, Mausritter, Eat the Reich (all as DM) and Pathfinder 2E (as Player).
Still looking to find the "perfect" system for me, I have recently been looking into ShadowDark and various "Mark of the ODD" and CAIRNish systems, mainly CAIRN 2E, Mausritter, Flail (just kickstarted).
With two kids (8 and 5 years old, respectively) it keeps being difficult to regularly play online through VTT and since I like the process of expressing myself through writing and asynchronous communication, I decided to look into Play-by-Post to get more gaming into my live and see if PbP is something I could also use to play more regularly as a DM. However, I would first like to experience PbP as a player to see if this style of play works for me in general and to see how others fill out the DM role.
I am looking forward to meeting you and starting to experience PbP as part of this community!
Best regards,
Stefan
