Posts on behalf of characters should use the character post mode from the drop-down. If you need to alter the portrait or name, the easiest way to do that is to use the NPC tag while posting in player mode (in which case the tagged portrait and name will replace the player portrait/name, leaving the player avatar/name smaller in a corner).

For in-character, speech, the best format is: "Something like this, with quote marks, preferably a colour (that looks okay both in dark and light UI mode), optionally a font, and preferably bold letters." If you don't want to pick a colour/font, please at least make the speech bold to visually stand out against narration text. Preparing a speech-format snippet in your sheet can allow quickly auto-inserting the full set of formatting by selecting it from a drop-down in your character under the post edit box.

Thoughts, if you want to post them, can be marked by making the sentences italic.
OOC:
Brief out-of-character commentary, such as relating to game mechanics, asking OOC questions to avoid misunderstanding, or calling attention to some nuance, should use the
[ooc][/ooc]
tag (the tag uses lowercase) - it will automatically format that text like this. This is best used for brief comments that should be strictly tied to a post (e.g. those that clarify an action). Meanwhile, lengthier discussions with a lot of back-and-forth are better done in Discord.
For the sake of anyone who might run into a slow Internet connection, it's often good to wrap up images or video/audio embeds into Spoiler tags. Note that the native image-hosting system for GP is Imgur, but it can have issues in some regions; personally I found postimages.org to be a suitable alternative.
It's OK if your posts are not very long. The important part is that it conveys something meaningful. The best post length is one that conveys all that is worth conveying, without filler and without omissions.
This campaign assumes that in many cases, players might know more than the characters, especially when it comes to other players' characters (but sometimes about NPCs too). If you truly need to do something more secretly from others, there's the private tag and the note tag for it (which allows choosing who gets to see a tagged part of the post), but please only turn to it as a last resort. It's cooler if everyone has the opportunity to enjoy each other's little side plots and the like.
Mechanics:

In the rare cases when you need to roll some dice, use the Fate Dice option from the dice roller (the number of dice is exactly what it says, and the modifier field should be filled by your total level of relevant traits and mods). If you spend or gain Drama Charge, or have other important mechanical considerations, note them at the bottom of the post using the OOC tag, and make the appropriate adjustments to the sheet if necessary.
If you make an edit that others should be informed of, untick the 'minor edit' checkbox before saving an edit of a post - that will re-send the notifications by e-mail and Discord. (This especially includes an edit or roll done after some discussion or request.)

Rolls

Some diced Trait Check, Level 3 + three dice.

1 Positive, 1 Blank, 1 Negative - Total: +0 (+3) = +3
