Hi there!

I'm Theo, a life-long roleplayer and big fan of play by post. By this point I've been playing RPGs for at least 18 years, if not more. It's been a while since I last tried my hand at forum-based RP, but am interested in getting back into the saddle and once more running a game now that my life has settled down a little.

I've played a ton of different systems over the years, but lately my favorite games have been Barbarians of Lemuria and Dicey Tales. At heart, I'm a pretty traditional GM and player who wants the system to be a scaffold for a bunch of folks playing play pretend together, and they scratch that itch perfectly for me.

As far as style goes, I mostly enjoy pulpy action and grand adventure, but I also occassionally like to dip my toes into horror.

I'm looking forward to starting, or maybe even joining some games here, depending on how much time I can afford it. I tend towards a pretty relaxed pace of play myself, generally writing one or two posts per week, and not expecting more from the people playing with me either.

Welcome to the community Theo -- I'm an enormous fan of Barbarians of Lemuria! Hugely underrated game. I trust you've seen the newest one, since it's changed hands and there's a lot of new material coming for it...

I have Dicey Tales as well, but must admit I've never looked at it carefully...

Sure did! The art is so gorgeous, and from what I've seen the new adventures are of very high quality. I'm very happy to see the game in such good hands.

Dicey Tales is a marvelous adaption, and brings in enough additional material for me to really use BoL as a universal system. (No shade on Everywhen, I just think it overcomplicates things compared to the simplicity and elegance of basic BoL and Dicey Tales. Love the various setting books for it!) The Adventures released for it so far also are very well-written, and really do capture a good pulp vibe. I hope to run them sometime in the near future.

Amen -- I respect the heck out of both Everywhen and the Sword & Sorcery Codex, but both indeed take that jewel of an engine at the heart of BoL and they add too much to it.

I'll take a closer look at Dicey Tales. I'm annoyed at myself on that one because I didn't see the Kickstarter shipping survey and never got my book!

Aww, that sucks. I can't speak to the quality of the book as I get most of my games in pdf format only, but missing out like that is a bummer.
