I think it was the very first edition, so Revised would be the "highest" version. The pdf had also amazing "old school" vibe that added to the experience.

Personally I looked into 2nd edition too. The changes seam to be interesting, especially the "wild die" that SOMETIMES adds some additional resolution to dice roll. But it was only theoretical, didn't play this version yet.

From what I looked into REUP version - probably... "this is the way" ;) :) for best old school Star Wars ttrpg gaming. But again: only from reading, not playing.

If you prefer short, but flexible rulesets you can also look into Mini-Six - seams as nice evolution of D6 systems, but the above versions had a really nice "character templates" (I think it is the name for the thing) that made creating your PC very fast and thematic.

I have played Revised and Expanded (2nd edition) D6, and loved it. I've also used the playtest for the FFG system, and liked that, too. It's why I'm torn on which to use, and think it would largely depend on possible player input.

I would gladly play D6 game with you... but currently I have way too many games. So maybe in the future :) Good luck!

I'd be ok with either system. Is there one you're more comfortable running?

To be honest, I'd be happy with either. I am more familiar with D6, but I wonder how well it's combat would translate to PbP. D6 also feels like it's in the minority, which is a great shame.

At the moment, I'm leaning more toward D6 for nostalgia's sake, but not so severely that I wouldn't shift to FFG if that was what most people preferred. As I said, I am in possession of both, and it won't affect the actual module at all.

More important for me is finding players who like a heavy RP focus, and who can provide consistent, details posts. The system is in service to that story, after all, and not the primary reason I'm doing this.

The aim tonight is to get a Details page done, so I'll settle on one over the other by then.

I've had multiple ffg games last multiple years here on this site. Currently running one now and playing in one.

It's my favorite system of all ttrpgs.

Part of it is that you can't wait around for narrative symbols to get spent, if the roller doesn't immediately edit their post to declare how they want to spend them? Then they probably go unspent - sorry, but it's on the toiletroller to spend them and just like any system in pbp you can't necessarily wait around for every "normal" exchange. So, that is to say it helps to have players who know the system (for example; the GM doesn't spend all narrative symbols, only advantage that they roll, and threats that the players roll).

That said the nice thing about the WEG D6 system is it just... really gets out of the way of game play, which is nice in pbp. I like the original more than REUP, REUP just added a bunch of rules bloat that wasn't necessary unless you're a GM that needs rules for everything. But YMMV

I ofc don't have a dog in this race but do have a lot of experience with both systems.

REUP became a little too much for me personally, sacrificing sleek and slim rules for so many more fiddly bits to cover every edge case. I prefer the original 1e rules with maybe the wild die added. There is a new version of D6 called D62e that was just released earlier this year.

I prefer Revised and Expanded myself, which is likely what I'd be using for this if d6 is the way chosen (the one with the Millennium Falcon on the cover).

Good to know that REUP is bloated! Now I can cross it off from my "to analyze" list :) As "rules for everything" is against ttrpg spirit -> in my world :)

I've settled on R&E D6, and I'll get a Details page completed for it today.

Now if I can just find my R & E book... lol

Matt Click also developed Hyperspace D6, which is like a streamlined, slightly cleaned-up version of WEG's SW.

I have a Details page ready, but am currently without a game forum due to some sort of glitch. While that's being resolved, feel free to read over the Details page and throw any questions over to me.

Hey I know you haven't officially opened applications but I was looking over the page and testing out character creation for when the time comes. Im a little confused, in your post you mention 21d worth of skills but the Revised and Expanded book says you get 7d. I just want to clarify the correct amount. You also listed we can't have any skills but 1 at a 4d but if I have a 4d in the applicable attribute don't all those skills start at a 4d? I'm new to the system so maybe im not understanding it but just hoping to clarify so I'm ready to make a character when the time comes.

Base characters receive 7D, but the party for this game is assumed to be a little more experienced. This is because the module I'm using was intended for 9-12th level characters, and so the threats therein might be more than starting characters can necessarily handle.

Skill dice are added to the base attribute to give the final skill total. For example, if you have a Dexterity of 4D, all Dexterity skills begin at 4D (if they've not had any skill dice allocated, you just roll the base attribute). If you were to assign +3D to Dodge (a Dexterity skill), then you'd have Dodge 7D.

Ah ok that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

No worries.

The first Details page I made was bugged. I've made a new Details page which actually has a forum.

Please be sure to read everything in full before applying to make sure you're comfortable with the expectations and guidelines.

If you're happy to go ahead, feel free to post in the OOC Thread and we can discuss character creation further over there (and you can discuss ideas with other players as they're added).

I have three spots available to people who are keen to join. Just be sure to read over the Details page and make sure you're comfortable with everything before applying.

If you're using the D6 system, I guess that I'll toss my hat into the ring. Anyone interested in playing a wookie? If so, I'll step aside, but otherwise, I'm calling it.
