Recruitment Thread - D6 Star Wars (OLD)

Hi everyone.

I'm considering trying my hand at running a Star Wars game. The intention would be to take one of the old d20 Star Wars adventures (Tempest Feud) and repurpose it for the an alternate system.

I'm new to this site, and so am still getting used to how everything works - for that reason, this is primarily just an interest check now rather than an active recruitment post (which will come after I've made a Details page and made ready everything else that would be needed).

At the moment, this is what I'm thinking:

• As mentioned above, the game would be run using the Tempest Feud d20 module as a framework/starting point. For this reason, this game would not be suitable for anyone who has played, or read through, that module before.
• I am intending to use the FFG Star Wars system. HOWEVER, if people preferred that the game be run using the R&E D6 ruleset, I can do that instead (I own the books, and love that system too). Either way, the adventure would remain the same, so it's more a question of which of the two system options generated more interest.
• I am not yet decided on whether the game will be set during the Rise of the Empire (during the Clone Wars), or during the Galactic Civil War. From an adventure stand point, the decision doesn't affect much; however, it will affect character options availability, who the characters work for, and what the galaxy would offer/look like during any side stories. This is something I'd welcome input on from people who would be interested in the game.
• I would be looking for around 4 players for the game, ideally those who could provide detailed posts and liked to engage in inter-party RP. Posting frequency is currently being determined, but I'd likely be aiming to have multiple posts a week, with the understanding that combat posts might require more frequent responses (of a potential shorter post length).

This is a very early days post, but I wanted to get my foot in the door and sound people out.

I'd love to participate! I've never played the FFG Star Wars system, but I've heard good things.

The FFG system is good. It focuses on constructing a dice pool based on ability, difficulty, and circumstances, and then interpreting results from the symbols rolled. It becomes quite intuitive after a few rolls.

D6 is very narrative focused and quite straight forward, too. I feel like there's less of a learning curve with that system, since it only uses D6s, but it's an older system and perhaps less familiar to most modern players of Star Wars (maybe?).

Definitely interested. I've played and run both D6 and FFG systems. Never played the d20 version though so I don't know anything about the adventure.

I'd be up for it either way...

I would 100% be interested in playing. Ive been wanting to play star wars. I'm good with either system.

Welcome! Gamersplane has really nice support for the FFG dice system, so that could make things smoother for you. I definitely recommend it. =)

I love Star Wars, and this sounds like a really fun idea. Unfortunately I don’t quite have the bandwidth to commit to another game right now, but depending on timing I might be interested once you’re fully ready to launch recruitment.

That said, if you end up with more interested players than seats, I’m totally happy to let others take priority. Hope the planning goes well!

Thanks for getting back to me guys! It's encouraging.

I'm still a little ways off making an official recruitment post/board, but the aim still remains to have a converted d20 module for a group who likes detailed, regular posts, inter-party roleplay (that doesn't need to be consistently encouraged solely by the GM), and is invested in the setting and characters.

I'd still be curious to hear from people what they think about time period: whether it's Rise of the Empire, or Galactic Civil War. The main thing affected here would be the Careers/Specialisations available, and the patron group that they work for (Old Republic or Rebel Alliance). It shouldn't affect the adventure module itself, but would likely impact inter-act threads that deal with what the party is up to between the main storylines.

It would also impact Force-users, and how openly the Force could be used without drawing adverse attention. Regardless of time period, though, I would put a cap on the number of Force-Sensitives (and identical Career choices), in the interest of diversity and party ability variety.

I'm always partial to the Galatic Civil War era. I think it's the period that just feels the most like Star Wars to me. That said. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and would play in any era.

It's encouraging to see a fair amount of interest. Just a reminder that those who have expressed interest should be entirely unfamiliar with the Tempest Feud module.

I'd express some interest, but unfortunately I don't own the systems you're gearing toward. I'm usually more interested in the Jedi/Sith side of Star Wars and only have the Force and Destiny book. Still, glad to see more Star Wars popping up!

Can never have too much Star Wars!

Not interested in the game myself, but thought this might be useful to those new to the system...

I'm also partial to the Galactic Civil War, especially the vibe of the show Andor. I never really got into the Clone Wars show, unfortunately.

That FFG Star Wars roller is so cool though!

I am hoping to start looking over the module more fully soon. If all goes well, I'll begin writing up a Details page afterwards.

Some time ago I was playing a SW game with D6 System on this site. It was great! Even the game was quite short. I was really surprised how well D6 System worked for the setting!

In compression: I joined probably a few FFG SW games here on GP too... none of them even came to the point that could be called "half the adventure". As much as I love the concept of FFG SW dice... I think it MAY be not the best fit for PbP + plus constant need for GM to interpret the Advantages and Threats, even in simplest situations... I think can be tiring.

But hay! I'm not very experienced with either system! So may be wrong a lot! Just wanted to throw my few cents about how great D6 System worked! :)

Any and all input is welcome! Do you know if that other game used the Revised and Expanded edition, or the fan-edited REUP one?
