REOPEN: [space horror] Looking for players for one-shot

Hi GPers, I'm going to run a live game at a local event and I would like to get some slow practice beforehand (and feedback + suggestions for immersion!)

The game is a short 3-4h one-shot, so should be fairly quick on GP

Setting
You are passengers on a combined passenger and cargo ship making the voyage from Luna to Miskan Station in the Belt. Unexpectedly awakened mid-voyage from your stasis, you find that the ship’s alarms are on. If you want to survive, you will have to figure out what happened while recovering from loss of memory caused by stasis sickness


Something or someone is definitely out there to get you...
and it could just as well be the passenger next to you

Details
✅ The Game System: Shadows over Sol. Battle system is a bit complicated but we won't need much of it. I'll copy/paste the rules we need. don't read the quick start (or the last part of it) as the adventure is from there.

✅ Player Experience Requirements: No experience. The event is open for anyone.

✅ Adult Content or Controversial Themes: Horror. Think something like Alien or the The Thing. You are stuck in a place, something bad is happening and can't trust anyone, not even the other players. I will keep it low on the gore, but I want to get some tension and distrust.

✅ PvP: Welcomed and encouraged. Sets the mood for distrust. Your personal goals might be in conflict with another player. Feel free to shoot, stab or space anyone (maybe not too early so everyone can have some fun). There is no way you are all getting out of here alive.

✅ Posting: 5-10 times per week. Just be sure you can post once per day for a month or two. Weekends and particularly busy workdays are understandable. But I'm on a deadline to finish the practice 🤣

✅ How to Apply: The game is for 4 players, but I need to be able to accommodate 5. Drop a message here to let me know. If there is a lot of interest, I can try to do more than one practice run since one-shots are going to be fairly linear.

Idk.... I prefer Customizable Character creation and rolls. Im also New to Ttrpg Scenes, but Maybe im Not A Fan of Science Fiction ttrpg and lean into Generic fantasy Ttrpg...

I think what PvP means in this context is that the game's tone and setting encourages a more "Mafia" or "Among Us" kind of gameplay - players trying to sus each other out, figure out who among them is affected by the virus, an alien or an insane person, that sort of thing. A classic "confined location"/trapped/"bottle episode" horror scenario.

Yeah Not My Types, I Prefer High-Fantasy Games, Let Other Play This Instead, i just back to my Mobile Gaming Vibe.

I'd be interested in playing in this, although I have never heard of the game system. Have played Call of Cthulhu (usually the 1930's era), some sci-fi games (Savage Worlds system), and some fantasy (Savage Worlds, D&D)

I can post once a day, and maybe more if needed, and am in the Pacific Time Zone

The event is a standard evening of one-shot games to try new systems, so all characters will have to be pre-made to save time. unfortunately, I can't have customization for this one.
The theme leans more on the horror. As reversia.ch said, this is a classic "confined location" horror scenario, and the sci-fi there more to set the stage and keep you trapped in a metal box in this particular case.
Players are generally discouraged from causing trouble for other players as most games are supposed to be collaborative at some level, and it can easily escalate to a personal level, ruining the fun for everyone. As reversia.ch mentioned, in this scenario one of the other players might be out to get you or they might decide halfway getting you out of the way is the best way to survive. This creates extra tension but will only work for short games.

Cool! I don't think the system is particularly well known. It's basically a dark hard sci-fi setting with some cyberpunk feel with its own rules. The setting itself is mostly irrelevant for this one-shot because it was designed to make it accessible to new players.
CoC players definitely have experience not surviving :D
The time zone shouldn't be a problem as I'll try to post in the morning and evening to cover most zones.

I'm always up for learning a new system. If you need another player, I'd love to help out! This might be good practice to see if there are any guardrails to keep PvP from getting too crazy, while lending to the atmosphere.

I would be interested too! I dont know anything about the system but I love horror (especially sci fi flavored).

Drakis2, quilltid and Redcroc, makes 3 player already :)
I'll set up the game forums while we wait a bit more to see if anyone else is interested.

There are 4 premade characters, so another player would be ideal, unless @reversia.ch would like to try it as well.

This one-shot is set up for 4 players.
There are very few NPCs so it really shines when we get all those nice unexpected player-driven interactions :D

We have 1 more spot if anyone else wants to try something different.

Darn! I missed it! I love this kind of premise!

There is still one PC left, but we are sort of halfway already :( It's a really short one-shot so I can try to run it again if there's more players interested.
Not sure how much replay value it has, but maybe some of the current players would like that as well once we are finished.

Didn't realise you were playtesting CESN, I would've jumped in to give it a go!

If there is one more player interested, I can run a second test. Everything is basically set up already :D

I wouldn't mind trying out a new system. Nor do I mind space horrors. And I have time to play.
