Character generation
[ +- ] Age of Storms - CHARACTER SHEET

Each player starts with two characters, which can be hand-made or rolled randomly. One of them will be more powerful from the start, whereas the other one will start as a mere civilian, who will hopefully rise to greatness.

If you wish to hand-pick everything, choose:
1 Calling
2 Active beats
1 Skill
1 Domain
1 Major or Core ability (only for one of the characters, the other one starts without it). Core abilities have Callings associated to them - you can choose whether to replace the original Calling with them or have 2 Callings
1 Piece of equipment

If you wish to randomize your characters, follow the steps described below. To provide players with an incentive to roll randomly, each randomized character will receive 1 point of Protection to one of their Resistances (protection lowers, and sometimes completely negates the amount of Stress you receive during adventures).

Randomly generated characters can have 1 reroll for cases where you feel the result does not satisfy you.

Step 1 - Character concept
Name - plenty of random generators for inspiration on the internet
Ancestry - Human
Date of birth - Pick a date between 28 SA and 65 SA (it is currently year 78 SA, meaning Storm Age). This will place your character between 13-50 years of age. If you can't decide, you can roll 1d37 for it
Calling - Roll 1d20 and compare it to the List of Callings

Step 2: Skills and Domains
Roll 1d9 and 1d8 to see what are your starting skills and domains.
[ +- ] 1d9 Results - Starting Skill
[ +- ] 1d8 results - Starting domain
Step 2.5: For only one of the characters, roll a 1d19, with a 1-15 result giving a Major ability and 16-19 result giving a Core ability. Core abilities have Callings associated to them - you can choose whether to replace the original Calling with them or have 2 Callings (mechanically this gives no advantage), alternatively roll for it.

Step 3: Pick 2 beats from the description of your Calling and mark them onto your sheet - the GM will make effort to have these happen in the game. I do not suggest picking a Zenith beat from the start, these things can take a LOT of time to accomplish.

Step 4: Roll for your starting equipment! This would be a roll of 1d5.
[ +- ] Starting equipment
Step 5: Roll additional 1d5 and mark 1 Protection depending on the result:
1. Blood
2. Mind
3. Echo
4. Fortune
5. Supplies

Step 6: Present your character concept in a few sentences! See if it is possible to link your character to others or the NPCs. Do not get too attached though - this system can be quite deadly and multiple-page backstories may very well come in vain.

The character sheet is on the very top of this post.

Here is an example of character creation, rolled randomly:
[ +- ] How rolls can look like (optional ones do not have to be there)

Edit: A character with these rolls would be

Date of Birth: 53 SA
Calling: The Heir
Starting skill: Compel
Starting domain: Ancient
Active Beat 1: Get into violent conflict with your close ones (family or friends) (Major)
Active Beat 2: Try really hard to live up to the expectations of others and fail (Minor)
Major ability: Echoes of the Past (Gain the Ancient domain. Once per situation, you can attempt a Discern+Ancient roll to find a spirit of a person that might provide you with valuable information or to guide you through a location.)
Equipment 1: Hunting Spear (Kill D8; or Kill D8, Ranged, One-shot)
Protection: +1 Fortune

The spoiler above would be marked onto a character sheet and the character then submitted into the game. In this case, we might have a case of an heir of a powerful figure or even bloodline, flavored in such a way that the ancestors occasionally appear to guide their descendant via Echoes of the Past.
Due to getting the Ancient domain for a second time, this character would receive an appropriate knack. An appropriate one after discussing with GM might be Ancient: Searching for Own Past. This would give the character an additional D10 when trying to uncover the history of his blood.

i can see where this is going.
A follower of Pan, of course.
Skilled in healing, like many followers of Pan, but with a deeper curiosity to travel.
Yet also relying on charisma. Someone approachable, someone you can trust, possibly unjustly.
Those outside the faith aren't just a potential risk, anything can be a tool in the hands of nature.

Lenoir was born in the year 51sa, a time where Stoneclaws village were divided in tension between the worshippers of the White dragon and the Godless.
His father were a simple man, beaten down by the harsh years, and he cursed the gods constantly, for they had put a bad luck upon him.
Thus he taught his son to turn his back on the gods, and never depend on their blessings, for the gods no longer walked on this plane.
Lenoir took those words to his heart, and pushed hard to make a living following his father, always doing the best for the community but further distancing himself to any religious act.
... ``Where are the your gods, when all we have to provide to our younglings are send, bones and stone ?!´´...

... ``You can bend your knees to your God, when you´re done wasting time, I will be out there doing what is really necessary´´...
