[Interest check] Masks: A New Generation

I've been nursing an idea for a Masks game: basically the Canon setting, except a "Secret Wars" type event (the original one from the 80s) resulted in a cosmic being eliminating all super powers in the world. A generation later, a few teens here and there are starting to exhibit powers -- and all the adults want to control how that unfolds. No plot planned, just a starting point and some things developing behind the scenes. Play to find out what happens kind of thing.

I've played in some short-lived Masks games and tried to run some even shorter-lived games, so my experience with the system is limited.

Anyway, if there is enough interest, I'll put something together over the holidays and then open for applications.

So, any interest?

I would love to play Masks! If you're okay with a repeat customer, of course :P

I've played and DMed quite a bit of Masks, as I love the system. So definitely interested.

Hi @timplausible! I do love Masks, as @Morphling can attest (we've played Masks together!). So I'd love to join! I've played and run it before.

I'm a big Masks fan, but I haven't played for a year or so. Would love to get in on another game.

edit: Given the set-up, should I assume you want to steer away from Proteges and Legacy characters?

Not at all. I think both can work great. The Legacy's family still exists, they just aren't super anymore. So ALL their hopes now rest on the Legacy character. Likewise, the Protege's mentor *used* to be a hero. Now they are training you to be the hero.

Many of Paragon City's former heroes still live there, with some being deeply involved in its political, social, and economic circles. That will be an important part of the setting.

This also means that most, if not all, powered villains that oppose the players would belong to the same (messy teenage) age group!

I guess tech-based heroes and villains really came out ahead on this one

Ah... But you have to read the fine print! (Because I haven't posted it). But short answer: nah. They got screwed too.

If there is still room, I'd like a chance to apply. I do have some personal aversions we could discuss in private, but otherwise I am a reliable player. I've played Masks a few times (sadly, many did end due to PbP attrition) but one of my longest ran games was Masks and it holds a special place in my heart.
