With the unexpected departure of a couple players, I am in need of someone who wants to play in a 4e game. If, after reading all this, you'd like to join, please tell me what kind of character you'd like to play. I will not be taking the FIRST player to respond, as we do have a specific fill-in needed, and I will likely be asking the current players which concept they'd prefer.

The game takes place in an alternate Victorian Earth, where magic has long since been lost, but the strange and unknowable is beginning to once again encroach upon civilization as 'civilization' begins to poke its nose into places it has no business being like pyramidal tombs and the heart of Africa.

The players are currently investigating a strange fog that has enshrouded the Devonshire coast, bringing unnatural changes to the wildlife there.

This is not a game meant to explore historic slights nor whitewash them. The game is first and foremost about exploration, mystery, and combat against the weirdness that lurks just out of sight. Social issues may come up organically as we play, but not as a deliberate focus.

As far as what we're looking for in a character is a non-magical Defender. To be clear, you can choose a supposedly magical class as long as you can flavour the powers you choose as non-magical. Magic may yet rear its head again in the world, but so far, it has not. Beyond that, anything is open, though I would like a cultural background different from what we have (wild west cowboy, Caribbean priestess, and english gentlelady).

I would like to chime in, this was shaping up to be an interesting and fun game! Unfortunately I had to drop not for reasons related to the game at all but myself, so I hope others give it a go!

I never played 4e so far.

A non-magical defender would be just fine for me, be it a samurai, a german or french soldier or an african warrior. I guess it depends more on the rules what the most fitting background would be.

What else do you need to know?

I'm new to pbp, but I have experience with with 4e dnd.

I would probably play a Papal Swiss Guardsman. I'm looking at using Battlemind wielding a halberd as the chassis, possibly with some multiclassing to get some rifle powers.

Let me know if you need anything else from me.

@pryalfire @Dominic Given that we now need two people, I'm going to change my approach and just invite both of you to the game where we can iron out your characters. Since there's some learning to do on both sides between the two of you it'll make things a little easier.
