Gameplay Etiquette & Practices
#1 Civility
This is a game for joint story creation. To make it fun for all involved be polite, courteous, respectful, and avoid offensive or derogatory posts.
[ +- ] Safety Tools: Enforced upon request
These tools are to help when you feel Rule #1 isn't working
The X-Card
The X-Card is an optional tool that allows anyone in a game to request an edit of any content anyone is uncomfortable with as you play. Since most RPGs are improvisational and we won't know what will happen till it happens, it's possible the game will go in a direction people don't want. An X-Card is a simple tool to fix problems as they arise. If anyone at any point is uncomfortable with where a scene is going or with something mentioned you can simply post an X-Card, linked to this post, in any thread (or send it to me privately).
Lines & Veils
Lines and Veils are a safety tool that makes sure people can list things they don't want included in the game for whatever reason.
A Line describes something you don't want mentioned as part of the game at all, not 'on screen' and not in the narrative background. A Veil is something you don't want to see happen 'on-screen' but that you are fine with being included in the background.
DM Lines & Veils
Line: Sexual Content: Explicit content is absolutely prohibited. This not only includes obvious direct comments but more subtle acts and comments that are of a sexual nature.
Veil: Language: Keep it PG-13 and we’ll be fine.
Veil: Violence : There is often conflict and combat in this game but graphic, gory, and unneeded details should be omitted. They are not needed for the story or game itself.
Example: torture - If someone were to have a problem with torture, they can indicate that on the sheet.
If someone lists torture as a veil it will be mentioned but no details or description posted.
If someone indicates it as a Line, there will be no mention of or allusion to torture. Instead, you might simply be told that the person gave that information out in an interrogation.
#2 Open Table Policy
If you end up not enjoying this game or if something happens that causes you to not have the time for it anymore, please feel free to leave anytime. I would appreciate a heads-up, with or without a reason, just so I know what's going on.
#3 Posting Frequency
I am on most days and try to reply to posts within 1 day. I ask for at least 1 post a week from all who join the game. If you can not do this just let me know in advance so we are on the same page about posting frequency. If players are inactive for too long, 2 weeks, they may be removed from the game to allow room for others. If you are removed due to inactivity but wish to rejoin just reapply to the game.
#4 Game Length
This game is designed to help people learn about role playing, gamersplane, and the Traveller system. With this in mind it may have few or many players that will rotate in and out as they join then leave. Games will have from 1 to 2 arcs depending on the player preference and should last from a couple weeks to months. The main Arc is to rescue the IISS Survey Team and return to Pautho IISS Scout Base. After that Arc, the Story might continue to another arc, but that is up to you the players.
