@Muns here's the discussion thread. I'm just getting things organized for now but feel free to post any specific questions

First of all, thank you for doing this, I really appreciate it.

The Game Creations & Management links is great and even though I have a folder with the links, your thread on this had many more than I found! Great!

Your ~Tiny Intro~ is formatted really nice which I see is stored at the character's custom URL. Did you do this as a part of building out your game? is the ~tiny intro~ built as a character hence why it's URL is this way? I like the format and would like to use it for my game I know I have to adapt a few things b/c the game is a Traveller game

On the formatting of the ~Tiny Intro~, what works for you and what doesn't?
Is the ~Tiny Intro~ built over time to answer questions ahead of time by new and existing players?
What gets the best use out of the ~Tiny Intro~?
If you had to redo it or better said what would change on a new version?

On the recruitment thread, what are the things you think some GMs miss. I see that visuals help, but basically after looking at the examples and a few others you have the 5Ws and the 'Hook' to spark the interest in the game and the basics of players responsibilities (posting per week, cautions or lines/Veils, etc). I like your term Lines and Veils.

I will post some more questions latter. I figured I have asked enough for a day.

Tiny Intro is a custom character shared for use as a "Handout". It is added to the game for all to view by making it public then adding it to the game by editing the : Game Details / Advanced rules definitions
[ +- ] Example advance rules
On the formatting of the ~Tiny Intro~, what works for you and what doesn't?
I like to use 2 columns the split it into sections then use spoiler / snippets / charsheet blocks to compress things that do not need full visibility. Use Ability blocks with compressed text for text that is posted in game often (rules, repeating descriptions, etc), add some NPC tables as needed (though this is usually in the GM sheet, which is built similarly). Use form fields for quick and fast text manipulation for tracking HP, locations, and other notes.

Is the ~Tiny Intro~ built over time to answer questions ahead of time by new and existing players?
It has evolved over time but is fairly static now. I try to keep it updated but only with content that persists past any single character.

What gets the best use out of the ~Tiny Intro~?
I use mostly the snippets that explain the Tiny D6 system to players and other snippets or compressed text in abilities for notes to players on how to play in PbP. Some players actually use other information but it is rare. In D&D 5e game I have run the players used the shop information I posted into that games handout

If you had to redo it or better said what would change on a new version?
Not sure, pretty happy for now. I change as things come up as I notice or players request

Important recruitment info includes # players, posting rate, game system, any custom/house rules, and not always included but important game/story style (combat/intrigue/social). Basic setting inform is helpful but that can be done in game, though it does affect who you get looking into the game.

I will try to get the other topics filled out but IRL keeps things busy so it may be intermittent. Feel free to post questions on issues your are busy interested in

I appreciate your time and effort to answer my questions. I have more but I am aware that RL is more important (as it should be!)

I have more questions, but I need to formulate them so they sound right.

Just list topics in order of interest and I can work down that while you formulate specific questions

+ how you built your ~ Tiny Intro ~ game
- + Mechanics of Game Creation
- - + See guides : Define System & custom rules , character sheet , Use Sub-Forum to organize
- + Content of Game Creation
- - + Setting , # Players , Duration , Posting Rate , Style/Theme

Thanks. The setting, number of players duration, posting rate and style/theme I have down.

Looking over all the posts by Diz, and Qralloq and his video on creating a Game and Gamersplane.com, I 'think' it might be best to build out a 'test' game or a sandbox to learn about setting the game up.
Is this a good start?

Also I have noticed below the 'Rolls' in this thread there is;

EDITED
Okay I think I see what these are for, they open 'windows' with helpful guides. My goodness, they are GREAT!

So for 'Mechanics of Game Creation', what is this and how is this used built?

'Mechanics of Game Creation' is just the steps of how to make a game. Where to clock and what the Claire's mean. I will add detail tonight.

Can you share the that's your are referencing with posts by Diz, and Qralloq?

Sandbox looks good. I am unfamiliar with Traveler but you seem to cover several formats of the game. Are these compatible or are you leaving the final system choice open to the players? If the latter I would suggest running a "Interest Check" thread in the Tavern to finalize any setting and system options before opening the game. Interest checks are a good way to test the waters and drum up players who might be interested but are unsure. You set good expectations which should help let applicant know the type of game you are running.

The systems of Traveller are a natural evolution from Classic Traveller to MegaTraveller, Traveller4, GURPS, Mongoose Traveller 1st Ed, then Mongoose 2nd Edition. All of them are compatible, except for GURPS as it is it's own system mechanics.

I will be able to use any edition of Traveller for this game, after all it is about Roleplay and the mechanics are a vessel to resolve the accomplishment of a task. Whether it is combat or mental tasks or social, etc.

You are spot on about a interest thread, as I have seen that allows people (GMs) to introduce an idea to see if there is interest to further the game. In the interest thread/post I will state that any edition of character is fine, as it is the player that is comfortable with that system, but understand that in the game it is about roleplaying and looking at the information and solving the problems through your character's eyes, feelings and problem solving. The roll of the die is the randomness of live that helps or not that process realization. Man now I am sounding like a professor of game theory.

The good news it that there are two of our current Traveller core group that are interested. Now I have to get off my fourth point of contact and get this together.

You seem to have all the basics. Points on things I find useful
1. keep active threads on the top level and use forums for archive and specialized posts
2. Handouts are useful but not needed for all games so long as your players know what is going on and/or you have documentation in the forums
3. GM custom sheets are VERY useful to keep things accessable : NPC, encounter snippets, notes on current situation, links to external/internal content, etc

I am reviewing all the links before creating my own condensed guide. Honestly I have never even looked at the videos so will take this opportunity to do that and transcribe key points for reference.

That said I can still answer questions as needed but may be some time before I get my "making a game" guide organized.

Something that just came to my attention. You should develop some general rules that cover player behavior. Things like :
posting etiquette : language and content
being absent / not staying involved and responding in a timely manner. Some people ghost game and even the entire site. Sometimes it is IRL problems, vacations, just newcomers loosing track of things, etc. Rarely is it intentional and malicious but I have seen that as well.

Best to have expectations made clear in advance along with an understanding of how it will be handled.

That is GREAT feedback! Thanks!

EDIT - I found my answer. Ugh

how did you get to change the titles for the posts in the thread "Welcome! (Intro & Rules)"??

I am trying to set-up the welcome thread is the same way you did, with a new title for each post inside the original Welcome thread.
