I like the idea of modern fantasy with gods and shit as like celebrities. Very much a result of reading the Wicked + the Divine

Then everything is a surprise you are totally expecting :)

Expecting? Or accepting?

Something I haven't yet had a chance to play, but want to, is some sword & planet fantasy, in the style of John Carter (the books, not the movie). Someone tried to run something similar with me a while back, but it was one-on-one, and I don't think that our ideas of what comprised sword & planet fantasy aligned. I'd like to get in on a group doing a campaign (or even just a single adventure).

I have been on a Urban Fantasy binge lately. Started rereading Dresden Files recently and my wife started watching Supernatural so I've been watching a lot of that as well. Not as interested in playing the monsters that go bump in the night, but the "normal" people fighting them. Something like Supernatural/Buffy/Angel. Bought Monster of the Week but hasn't gotten around to read it yet.
That is exactly what my Wednesday night tabletop game is, using the Savage Worlds rules. It's called Shadows of New York, and it is all about mortals fighting the monsters that dwell in the shadows (yes, my Shadows of New Orleans pitch is based on that, but with GURPS instead of Savage Worlds, and set in New Orleans). My tabletop experience is kind of a monster-of-the-week with an overarching plot thrown in.
