Borz stumbled back, he could recall where the statue had been that he had lifted the torch from. Unable to see, the Komsa warrior fell back from the fight. He waved his habd before his face, unable to make out the shape of his fingers. As the blood froze in his veins the cold chill of death had made the brilliance of that light grow. It was all he could see.

In that state, the Komsa recalled a deep memory in his blood. A story of the Sky Father, and the chitin of his divinity. Focusing on that memory, warmth grew and resonated in his chest, the blood began to thaw, and while the process was immensely painful, growth always hurt.

He touched the berkanaz rune upon his warshirt. "Sormós*wiHrósyo." The Komsa man incanted the word of power. A phrase that struck a sharp correlary to every spoken language on the continent.

The light, he began to understand wasn't blinding him. He was attempting to stop it. Of course it had won- it was everything. He was simply one small thing. Upon realizing this, his sight began to return.

"The eyes do not see. Only the mind sees. See the glory, become glorious."

The Armor of Heroes, a manifestation of the divine power in all man emanated as the light returned to him. Borz recovered quickly. Still sensing that they were all imperiled.

-1 Luck to Hanford
The last shadow flickers in time with the final torch on the wall. It seems to flit from place to place as it flickers, evading Hanford and Noxmorte. Then it catches Hanford with a sharp edge of darkness. Then it flickers away again.

You'll all need another try to end it.

Taking the hit Handford will spin and try and catch the shadow flitting away."Hey Borz, what did the ghost say to the woman?"

Borz was perplexed, he knew Hanford was attempting to make light of the situation. But his grasp of their shared language made word play particularly difficult.

He gave Hanford a suspicious look. Sussed out by sound the wordplay. "Boo... boo... boo-tiful??!?" He guessed.

The last shadow and torch snuff out. Only Borz' handheld torches give vague light in the shadowed hall. You can see a door at the end; it is closed, wooden, decorated with tarnished metal.
Nov 19, 2025 11:04 am
"Correct."as he finishes off the last shadow with a flourish he will sheathe his knife and pull his bow back out.

"Hanford Lopt-wily, but Borz Tyr-wise." Borz made a gesture imitating striking his left eye. It was a subtle gesture, and to the large Komsa warrior, who seldom wore anything but a scowl, showed he was well pleased with the game.

Borz as his vision clears, presses deeper into the strange and wonderful place. He simply had no fear in him. "Bunched up behind the tent, curled up under a stone, a disc at the foot of a stump. I am what?" Borz was not so skilled at jests, but he knew a great many riddles. Riddles were easier than jokes when one was speaking a third language.

Noxmorte simply shook his head, two weeks on the trail and Borz barely speaks. Now, with danger at hand, he get's talkative. Noxmorte keeps his sword in hand as he follows the others onward.

The metal-decorated wooden door is firmly shut. The brass handle is a |____| shape vertically mounted. Borz gripping and firmly pulling yields no motion. What do each of you do?
Nov 25, 2025 10:15 pm
Hanford will look at Bors"Is rain or water?"Looking at the handle Hanford will examine it to see if there might be away to pick it.
OOC:
Used mind for the examination.

Examine lock - (2d6+1)

(56) + 1 = 12

Borz grins and shakes his head. Looking to Noxmorte to see if he had an answer. He stood back and let the others work not wanting to interfere. They knew more of contraptions, Borz knew much of the natural world, but the sciences of these southerners both impressed and intimidated him.

"I not rain nor water." Borz said after considering.
Nov 26, 2025 1:09 pm
Noxmorte will also examine the door and handle.

Rolls

Mind: 1 - (2d6+1)

(15) + 1 = 7

The handle is rigidly fixed to the door. There is a slot above the handle where a key might be inserted. It seems like it would be rather a large key. Maybe something could be used to pick the lock. Hanford has the tools and skill to do so. With a click-and-snap, the internal workings of the door yield to his deft fingers and he is able to pull it open.

Beyond is a staircase, dark, with switchback flights going up and down.

"There we go. Bors lead on."Hanford will back out prepare his bow and ready to move out.
Nov 26, 2025 9:24 pm
"I like mushroom. But I not mushroom."

Borz replies as he once more forges ahead moving at a steady walk, torch held overhead and low to the ground.
Nov 27, 2025 3:42 pm
Do you go UP or DOWN the stairs?
Nov 27, 2025 7:08 pm
Borz reasons he must get a better grasp of the situation and points up. "We go?"
Nov 28, 2025 12:38 am
"Up sounds good to me my friend. Are you stacking your poop behind the tent?" He says with a smile.
