Gen's advice is solid, and why I use the term "quest presentation" instead of "quest design." You're not designing an entire quest for others to faithfully follow, but presenting the inciting incident, and then letting things happen organically.
Of course, you can have a quest outline in your mind, so you'll be prepared when it's your turn to post. But if someone zigs where you would've zagged, time to improvise.
