The Daggerwake

Oct 1, 2025 10:11 pm
As you ready yourself, to descend into the murky depths, one Ellin Vohr, a single mother and coral diver, volunteers to take you to a place called the Wailing Spiral. It is a small but strong vortex about a mile out. She hands you each a weighted belt to keep you from floating upward. She tells you, "The Wailing Spiral is a quick way to reach the bottom. It's about fifty feet down and puts you out onto a sandy kelp flat. Once there you'll have to follow the currents north by northeast. Beware though, there are Driftkin down there. They look like giant mackerel only with bigger mouths...oh, and bigger teeth!" She smiles as if to illustrate the toothy grin of the Driftkin fish.

It takes you an hour to get to the Wailing Spiral. A sound like a man wailing comes from the vortex itself. It is a large circle (60' diamiter) of spiraling water...

You keep your equipment and make it to the bottom as well.

OOC:
Oh you mean hit pooint modifier. So I should have rolled 1d20+1 instead, got it. That's a 9 and still a pass even with the modifier.
Oct 3, 2025 6:33 pm
OOC:
Actally, since there are no rules for swimming, I assessed the situation and decided that Con would be the deciding factor. Rolling under you Con means the modifier is added to your base Con. In this case: Con 13 +1 = 14. The target number is now 14 or less instead of 13 or less. Either way, you're good!

OOC:
are we swimming?! You narrated we have weighted belt. I expected we walk the bottom of the sea. It shouldn't be hard to with water breathing. And if belt is not enough i can put some stones into my backpack.

OOC:
Well, the funnel would put you a few miles out where you would need to be, and carry you to the bottom faster. Or you could have started from the shore and spent more time and resources to get to the same place. Also you avoid the loss of memory so close to the reef.

Just to be clear, I am waiting on Keldran. In about 8 hours I'll move the story forward
Oct 4, 2025 8:06 pm
You head down the funnel of water and it carries you, tumbling and spinning. It seems as if you've been in this slipstream of water for an insurmountable time when you are ejected into open ocean.

You gently float down to the floor of a sunken ruin, now no more than a few pillars and a couple arches. You sense this place has seen recent use and that you are not invaders. To the North lies your path. A kelp forest, a mile further down. You look up and see the shimmering grayness of the surface world above, dim and undulating. You look about to check on your companions as you prepare for the long walk to find the Path Unseen.

Biscuit looks around to make sure his companions are with him and then starts walking.

You will travel for three days to find the Kelp Forest. Each Day I will roll the following:
1. Aquatic Environment changes
2. Look Out for dangers ahead
3. Guide, to keep from getting lost.
4. Forager if you need to forage for food.
5. Supply to keep track of supply. This is more of an update.

Each day you move into a new area and you get to explore the area.
I will also make an Exploration check and Travel Event check.

The end of day you must rest.

Day 1

You walk across the sandy bottom making good time. The water temperature drops slightly and visibilty decreases slightly due to murky water. You don't run into anything that wants to eat you, but you find an abandoned piece of ruined tower which looks like a good place to rest.
OOC:
You may explore the tower and camp here.
Oct 5, 2025 8:33 am
OOC:

The ruined tower is still under the sea, right?
I have 3 days of dried rations but only sincle waterskin and there is no way we could be Forager in the sea.
If we catch a fixh we can't cook it under the water, can we?
Hey man, we took the quick way down here and we spent whole day trying to find that priest for no result. We must admit he is most probably dead eaten by those monsters Ellin Vohr mentioned. We are running out of food and freshwater. I'm turning back tomowwor morning

Nevertheless Mole (being a thief afterall) is looking hot to explore the ruined tower, using watr as reason fo loot the tower:
Perhaps we could find some reserves of fresh water in there, for watever resons it is.
Oct 6, 2025 2:13 am
Indeed this tower seems to be used by travelers. There is a dry vault in the tower. It seems strange to find this oddity, but there are some runes in dwarvish and elvish. "Welcome all who are weary. May you find rest. May you quench your thirst. May you eat and be full."

Beneath these runes are vessels of clay. One of these is hot to the touch, but once you open the lid it is like an oven. The left one contains fresh water, the right one contains bread, cheese and dried fish.
