As you ready yourself, to descend into the murky depths, one Ellin Vohr, a single mother and coral diver, volunteers to take you to a place called the Wailing Spiral. It is a small but strong vortex about a mile out. She hands you each a weighted belt to keep you from floating upward. She tells you, "The Wailing Spiral is a quick way to reach the bottom. It's about fifty feet down and puts you out onto a sandy kelp flat. Once there you'll have to follow the currents north by northeast. Beware though, there are Driftkin down there. They look like giant mackerel only with bigger mouths...oh, and bigger teeth!" She smiles as if to illustrate the toothy grin of the Driftkin fish.
