Chapter 01: No Zealot Like A Convert! Scene 01

OOC:
Would something like this work? Glyfix is still driving and already tasking the drones to get telemetry on the fight so not sure if this is too much at once. Just let me know if either adding my roll to help works or allowing a portion of my bonus from mt Hive Awareness stunt to be shared/added to her roll
Feeling Ylza's attempts to tie into any nearby radio traffic Glyfix opens an encrypted channel and adds her as a system user on his drones network, with wireless transceiver access. I realy should let others drive he thinks to himself as the tasks only multiply.

"We can always just... have a look."

Adatahl shuffled along the bench seat until he could open one of the doors. Before anyone could stop him, he pulled himself up to stand on the roof, and leapt into the air above the treeline, scanning their surroundings for signs of battle.

OOC:
Honestly, I was going to offer to drive, but you got there first :P
"And there he goes." Ylza said as the door to the Mountaineer opened up, breaking the cabin seal and leaving the interior of the vehicle open to a well-aimed explosive, "Creatures of Magic, every time."

OOC:
I just figured as someone who is not focused on direct combat I could drive. But keeping focused on sensors/communication might be my slot. Next time you can drive. Once we we engage any hostiles I can be the valet and stay with the car. :)
Sep 12, 2025 12:34 pm
As Adatahl leaps out the open hatch, laser fire rocks the vehicle! Six Coalition Skelebots lie ahead, taking aim at the Mountaineer! Beyond them is the scene of a recent battle.
Sep 12, 2025 4:59 pm
Glyfix steers the car for some cover while deploying several drones to mask them from the skelebot targeting with a sensor distortion field, a mix of visual and radio detraction chaff dispersed as a mist between the bots and the team. The remaining bots reaming on task to collect information to help assess the complete situation as tasked previously.
OOC:
LoL my rolls sure are great. Ok I think this time I will use a fate point for a re-roll fo the smoke screen.
Well, at least it doesn't totally suck

Ancients, alive! Cal explained, reaching out a hand to the space between the mountaineer and the skelebots. On reflex he tried to reach for that power he used to defend others.

OOC:
Let me know if I did that right? I have +2 for flashy and I did make the assumption that the skelebots were on the same scale?

"Hrrmgh--" Ylza grabbed hold of an overhead rung with her bionic arm as the Mountaineer turned, the big wheels throwing dirt and debris as they fought to find purchase on the loose ground of the dirt trail. The safety sound of a FASSAR-20, maybe a 30, chirped from the treeline in a familiar pattern.

"Hot smoke is good visual cover, spread it around and isolate 'em!" she shouted over the din, pointing at Cal as his will churned molecular activity to his will, "Glyfix, if you've got a Globe of Silence in any of that stealth gear, these guys have lousy object permanence. They'll forget about the truck when the fighting starts." she unbuckled her harness, pointing her bionic arm at Fort.

"Alright newbie, decapitating strikes are fastest, but they only work most of the time so don't linger. Keep your head on a swivel for a human overseer. On this broken terrain, outrunning them isn't really an option, so it's time to strut your stuff!" without confirming if anyone was actually listening to her, Ylza threw herself out of the open door, tumbling through the air as the air sizzled and snapped around her, rolling into the underbrush.
OOC:
If it'll get me a better result, I'll happily spend a Fate Point to Invoke Veteran of the Siege of Tolkeen on this.

Assuming this Aspect gets created, anyone is free to use it. Feel free to add any advice from Ylza that you think applies if you invoke it.

edit: Hrmn, maybe Battle Tested Tactics would be a better Advantage to create ...

Try to Create/Reveal Aspect "Rigid Combat Programming" on the Skelebots

With Glyfix's help Ylza is able to both isolate the frequency the Skelebots are on and find the one that the Onyx logging camp uses.

static... "I repeat this is Corporal Evenrude to Lieutenant Carmichael. We are under attack by an unknown force. Send reinforcements... this is Corporal Evenrude. We're ten miles southwest of Camp Onyx. We've eliminated our target but are under attack by an unknown force. Lieutenant Carmichael send reinforcements."

On the other channel: "Repeat yourself Louis, did you say the Coalition...?"

Ylza successfully creates the Aspect Alone and Outnumbered on the opposing force.

Glyfix successfully creates the Aspect Difficult to Target on the Mountaineer.

Cal successfully creates the Aspect Hard to See on the Mountaineer

Ylza successfully creates the Aspect Battle Tested Tactics on your team.

Each of these aspects can be used once for free, and then additionally by spending Fate points.

As Glyfix drives the Mountaineer into the treeline to find some cover, the Skelebots continue to fire, although their not hitting nearly as often. You also see two figures in standard issue Dead Boy body armor finding their own cover in the trees. Scattered around a clearing in front of you are half a dozen bodies in civilian clothes.
Sep 14, 2025 3:19 pm
You all are in a zone we'll call Treeline. Ahead of you is a zone we'll call Clearing. You're only one zone away from your attackers, and so you can reach them by moving and are still able to act in the exchange after doing so. They're also within range of your weapons.

I like to use Elective Action Order or as its sometimes called Popcorn Initiative. I'll decide who goes first, and then the person who goes decides who goes next, until everyone has acted in an exchange. The last person to go in the exchange decides who goes first in the next one, and can choose themselves. Please be aware that I get a turn too, so if you all go then I'll be going last. We'll go ahead and start that sequence now, and I think Adatahl should go first as he was first to leave the vehicle.

That makes it @GreyGriffin’s turn.

As the others dove for cover, Adatahl reflexively lunged forwards towards the skelebots. He flared his wings as he sprinted ahead of the Mountaineer, all four hands spread wide as he hurled himself into the midst of the formation.

The inanimate creatures warranted no hesitation or mercy, and he had no qualm about bringing his full power to bear against a killer robot. He struck with the speed and power of a thunderbolt, grabbing one by he head and hurling it to the ground, lightning striking down from the sky, channeled through him to disintegrate it.
OOC:
Adatahl will attack the skelebots, wielding the Stormclouds of War, since they are inanimate killing machines.

He also claims a +1 Scale advantage against them, which I forgot to change in the actual roll. >.<

With the flash and the roar of Adatahl's lightning, Ylza hit the ground from her dive, the armor cushioning her fall as she impacted the underbrush that had already been crushed flat by the mountaineer. Her forward momentum brought her into a roll as she slid over the crushed wood and pulped leaves, sliding into the underbrush along the side of the road as she slid into a ditch for cover.

She placed a grenade from her belt atop a root and kept moving, keeping her body low and pulling her hood up and over her helmet as she moved. A little guerilla trick, something to make their numbers seem greater than they were, though normally she'd have set it up in advance. Blue and white armor flashed irregularly between the trees, her shape obscured by the drabber robes as laser scorches filling the air with the smell of burning sap. Here and there, missed shots cooked off the moisture in the tree and cause it to explode into a shower of jagged wooded debris before the tree itself began to teeter.

With a flick of her finger, the grenade she'd left behind suddenly jumped into the air, silently firing itself between the trees and banking itself towards the two human Coalition Soldiers. It landed with a thud amongst them, just as Ylza popped up to suppress them with the pulse laser in her hand. When the grenade did go off, rather than a storm of shrapnel or the blinding flash of a plasma grenade, rime ice scattered out from the center of the effect as the region was super-cooled.

OOC:
Lemme try that again with proper notation

Edit: Spend a Fate Point to Invoke Techno-Wizardry Arsenal, and I'll also take the Free Invoke off of Battle-Tested Tactics. A Good result for both of them should strip some Stress off at least -- though it might be less effective given that Stress is broken up into a bunch of [-1] Boxes.

I normally like to pass to enemies so they don't end up clumped together, but on this occasion I'll [b]Pass the Initiative to Cal Tan

Cal watched the unfolding battle with a rising panic. He knew these rhythms, the blasts the fire the warped air of the laser blasts.
A red ribbon floating through the air, untethered from what held it. It’s floating, flitting pattern a thing of chaos and beauty. Despite its attempts to hold itself up it fell to the ash and blood. Innevitable…
No. Shut it down. Focus on what you can control. Cal swallowed, his face turning to a cold mask.

With a growl that sounded more feral than man, Cal moved from the mountaineer. Running through the underbrush to the controllers. The heads of the snakes. A heat began to build around the man, distorting the air and shimmering.

Cal reached out his hand letting out a primal scream and channeling all his rage and panic into a blast centered on one of the handlers.

Watching Adatahl dive straight into combat with the death machines Glyfix wonders at the near suicidal tendencies of the more aggressive spients but nods approvingly at the use of the ranged attacks by the avian and then Ylza'Vokats. Using his systems that Ylza already tied into both forces Glyfix began orchestrating the battles.

"Onyx base, be advised the Tomorrow Legion is on site of the conflict and moving to engage Coalition forces of Skelebots and foot soldiers. Please validate our identities and get your people to not fire on us" then bursts a IFF code to the base and local forces.

While calming down the friendlies a more malicious approach is taken with the Coalition forces. The first thing he does interfere with the coalition comms by pushing recordings of coalition engagements he has tapped into previously. Invoking aspect : lone and Outnumbered A simple enough feat. His true focus is on scrambling any outbound communications while allowing his swarm to assist his teammates with taking down the skelebots by homing in on any injured or out of formation units to quickly take down.
[ +- ] Master Sabatour

OOC:
Not sure how autonomous the drone swarm is allowed to be but a simple thing like target enemy "skelebot" seems doable. If not then ignore the 2nd roll

@JoshuaMabry Lets have the enemy go next. Skelebots by preference with AI reflexes giving them the edge over their biological overlords
