"If we don't do something, he might infect countless people" she didn't know much about lycanthropy, only enough that the legends said it was contagious "But I agree with you; killing him is going to land us in all sort of trouble. Lets go down to the village and see if we can find any 'wolfsbane'. If there isn't any to be found, we can rethink our options"

Our fightery fellow leads his party into town. For to acquire some wolfsbane!
Let us find a friendly shopkeepers who can sell us wolfsbane, friends!

Verge is a small fishing village, and there aren't any stores to be found. Even if there were, it's doubtful they would stock something as rare as wolfsbane. But after asking around, you are directed to old Vlaidslav, a fisherman with murky eyes and skin weathered and tanned like old leather. He tells you how in his youth, he wandered away from the village, and distinctly remembers seeing the plant growing in the woods west of the town.

He also remembers seeing spiderwebs hanging from the trees and the shrubs, more than he has ever seen in his life. Before running away, he swears he has seen an entire deer suspended between the tangles of sticky webbing...

What do you do?
OOC:
Vlad claims the woods were he has seen the wolfsbane are some several hours walk trek from the village; certainly a much shorter distance than going to Threshold and back, which would take days. But it is dangerous, if he is to be believed.

What to do, friends? Travel days to Threshold, or fight spiders? I vote the latter.

You leave Verge behind and venture west, into the dark forest. The air slowly grows dam and heavy, and the canopy of the trees loom above you. You trudge along for hours, the forest slowly closing tighter and tighter around you with each step you take. Eventually, the deer path you follow narrows further until it ends up in a thicket with strands of silk strung between the branches. Farther ahead, entire tree trunks are covered in webbings, and the air itself smells of decay, and rotten carcasses.

Several coccon-like shapes dangle from the trees above you. You can identify lumps of fur and antlers wrapped tightly in spider webbings, other look like outlines of boars, or maybe wolves. But most disturbing was an unmistakable outline of a humanoid figure, wrapped in thick silk, arms and legs pressed tightly against its body.

Underneath it all, is a blueish-purplish shimmer of petals beneath the webbings. Barns immediately identified the plant they came for, but the flowers lie directly beneath the webbing, spread all over the forest floor. Any attempt to reach them has a high risk of disturbing the webs, and whatever monstrous creatures spun them.

What do you do?

Maybe we try fishing the flowers towards us? Use a loose branch or some kind of rod, and those of us with ranged weapons be ready to fire upon approaching spiders from a distance away?

He smiles, "What I'm going to do is turn invisible and work my way over there to gather up the herbs. Should I trigger the web, I will throw some leaves in the air and trick the spiders in thinking that is what trigger the webs. If starts to go bad then have all of throw sticks in webs try to lure the spiders away."

He adds on, "Now if someone has a flint & steel that I can barrow. If this situation becomes more dire then I will throw oil upon the webs and set it all ablaze. And I have spell to sleep the spiders perhaps too."

Will hands flint and steel to wizardly friend.
A good plan, just might work. I will be ready to cover you in case. Good luck.

"I'm hesitant to use fire, simply because we risk burning down the forest."

He misses steps and then releases/tosses out some leaves from his sack as he freezes like a possum in car lights. Ever so watchful for a giant spider with hopes his trick works and the spider goes away if it appears.

Barns manages to pick up the flowers, but careful as he was, his boot grazed against a thick strand of webbing. There was a silence in the forest for a moment, then he noticed the silk stretching, and the branches above him bending under great weight. Three hulking shapes descended from the treetops, spiders almost as big as horses. You know they shouldn't be able to see you, but there is no guarantee that they couldn't sense you some other way, perhaps by the heat of your body.

What do you do?
OOC:
Barns, give me a 'wand' SV to see if you got caught in the webbing. Everyone - decide what you want to do. Do you wait for the spiders to act and see if they can detect Barns or not, or do we roll initiative?

Halav Incarnate stays back, javelin ready, waiting to see if Barns remains undetected. Holding until initiative time. :)

The three spiders descend down to the forest floor in search of their prey. They know something disturbed their webbings, but were unable to find him. Barns was trapped, and his presence would surely be betrayed if he dares move a muscle.
OOC:
@WanderOne - your leg is stuck in the webbing. trying to free yourself would reveal your presence to the spiders. You can still cast spells, but it would also break your invisibility.

He elects to not to move and hopes his distraction of leaves eventually works as he looks down at his foot marred in the webbing with a frown. He is only glad he has the wolvesbane. This carelessness is going to get him killed someday.
OOC:
(He has a sleep spell but doubt it is powerful enough to take down three spiders.)
