Summary Summary
- Act 1 is mostly 'old hat' and largely about PCs that are not around anymore.
- The mention of Chaudry is all that really carries over.
- Act 2 is long and mainly covers background that shapes the way things are, but does not contain much that is overly relevant to the current events.
- Act 3 is relevant, it pertains to the events that led directly to where we are.
- Act 4 is the 'current events'.
Act 1 Summary
- The weather is bad.
- Chaudry sends summoned demons after Jacob (ex PC).
- They are repelled but the PCs working together, but get away with information and an item (gold cross).
- The reason for this is still unknown.
- A possible connection to a 'hellhound fighting ring' leads the PCs to investigate stories of a hellhound on the underground tracks between Benji's station and Hyde Park.
- They find (or a found by) the hellhound, and are driven away.
- Our 'Demon Hunter' PC has thoughts about taming the beast, but leaves town before anything is done.
Act 2 Summary
- The weather is bad.
- A meeting is called to discuss the weather problem.
- Many accusations are thrown around.
- The most likely culprit is agreed to be 'those damn faeries'!
- Post-meeting the PCs engage in a little light breaking-and-entering.
- They are caught red-handed.
- Jacob (ex PC) finds an escape route... to a faerie land (unbeknownst to him).
- He is lost to us right after. (Player left.)
- Emma and Benji try to deny their involvement (though there are security cameras).
- Emma ends up in legal troubles, but charms The Administrator into getting the charges dropped in exchange for a future favour (Debt).
- Benji has not yet faced repercussions, because...
- ... Elliot, an NPC 'vampire lord' (and Emma's patron) failed to show at the meeting.
- Elliot has vanished without a trace.
- In Elliot's absence there is a power-vacuum, many vampire clans are vying for dominance.
- There is little enforcement of 'the masquerade' (not a term used in-universe).
- People are dying.
- People are being turned and then left to fend for themselves.
- Emma find a friend of hers, Sarah, from a writers' group, has been fed upon by a vampire and her mind fiddled with to erase the memories.
- The group —which now includes the 'recently in town' *Persephone*— track the vampire to Sarah's roommate and colleague, Chablis Valour.
- The confront Chablis, eventually feeding her their blood with the help of a nurse and a cop (a regular 'strippers' convention'... except the uniforms are not flattering).
Act 3 Summary
- The weather is bad.
- Emma has weaseled her way into the 'business dealings' of her ex-boyfriend, Henry (Relationship), and met with the members of The Ivy Club who are, apparently, recruiting him.
- She also convinces him to bring her to their 'weekend retreat' —moved from 'the seaside' due to weather.
- The retreat turns out to be a trap, with an elaborate game to see whose tribute will be sacrificed.
- Obviously it turns out to be Emma.
- Hearing about this weekend, and knowing —due to 'demon senses' that there is demonic stuff afoot— Persephone convinced an inebriated Henry to bring her, even though he already had a date.
- Benji was tracking the black dog, which leads him to the sacrifice portal-entrance. He sees Emma and Persephone go in and heroically leaps in after them.
- In the bowels of the earth below Hyde Park, our adventurers encounter and booming demon. In contravention to the expected norms they befriend this demon.
- They approach the sacrifice room from the wrong side.
- The great black dog is sleeping nearby, possibly drugged?
- Emma —quite reasonably— runs.
- Somehow a portal that she sensed earlier opens for her, spitting her out into the park.
- In their shared hotel room, Emma reveals to Henry that the world is not as simple as he thought.
- Emma then threatens 'Sin, her contact in the Ivy Club, with unspecified direness if they mess with her again.
- Given that she made it back from underground, they are cowed.
- Persephone tries to make a deal with the sacrificer, Chaudry, but fumbles the approach and her Dark Patron withdraws their support for her.
- Powerless, Persephone is brutally killed as a sacrifice.
- Persephone's Dark Patron brings her back from the dead, teleporting her home.
- Benji spends days wandering the dark tunnels till he stumbles onto the underground lair of the ancient vampire lord Alasdair.
- Benji finds Alasdair has people caged up to be fed upon.
- Benji convinces the guards to take him to Alasdair.
- But Benji's 'rat' buddies, turn out to be demons who are serving him for some reason.
- This sets off the alarms (demon detectors, apparently) on Alasdair's lair and almost causes an incident.
- Alasdair is lonely and excluded enough that he forgives the misstep and invites Benji to eat and play a game and scrabble.
- Benji's Demonic Rat Trio (DRT? DiRT?) 'return to him', as instructed, causing another diplomatic incident and a gunfight.
- Saddened, Alasdair has to ask Benji to leave.
- Back in familiar tube tunnels, Benji feeds on and then sort of befriends a pair of Transport for London railworkers, discovering that they are 'monster hunters' (now possible rebranded as 'vampire hunters', even though they are not buff).
- Benji has promised to help them free those held captive below the lines at Hyde Park.
Act 4 Summary
- The weather is bad.
- Persephone and Emma had a fight about what happened at the retreat.
- Emma went seeking information about Elliot...
- walking brazenly into Elliot's old penthouse, now occupied by young and undisciplined vampires...
- ignoring the dead bodies...
- Emma found and opened the secret safe.
- Helped herself to Elliot's backup-drive...
- Emma was caught red handed —again— but managed to talk her way out of too much trouble for the low, low price of letting a freshly turned vampire feed on her....
- ... leaving 'terrible scars', and putting Emma in the hospital.
- She misplaced her handbag with the backup-drive.. and all the money.
- But it seems like Llewis, the penthouse security guard who took her to hospital, 'has the bag'.
- In hospital Emma was, possibly, approached but a strange man calling himself Waterman...
- ... but this may have been a dream?
- With her phone, in the hospital room safe, Emma found a business card for Titanias, an exclusive plastic surgery.
- The same day that Emma left the hospital she went to see Titanias and met with Dr Moss and Blossom the nurse/receptionist.
- Persephone revealed to Henry that she is 'not a normal girl'.
- They copulate... a few times, at first drunkenly and then the morning after.
- Persephone and Henry make plans to go on a read date the next day.
- Persephone rushes off to meet her other date, Viviana...
- ... Viviana is also the target of her demonic deal Job.
- Persephone bring Viviana home and, after a quick change of sheets, seduces her... a few times.
- Embarrassed Viviana flees after being introduced to Circe, Persephone's sister.
- Persephone tries to reveal to Circe that she is not a normal girl and that the world is not as simple as she thinks...
- ... this does not go well and Circe thinks her sisters is mocking her.
- Persephone finds that she can not 'prove' to Circe, since she still has not made amends for the faux pas that led to her death.
- Persephone flys off the handle and leave Circe, distraught, to go see her boss, Wentworth, unfruitful demanding her contract in a lopsided quid pro quo.
- Wentworth says for Persephone to 'produce something' before they can talk.
- Persephone rushes home to find Henry has come for their date, found Circe distraught and abandoned, and tried to support her.
- This 'support of others rather than her' drives Persephone mad... seemingly literally.
- Persephone collapses in the public hallway, and is committed to hospital.
- Persephone is teleported right out from under Circe's nose.
- This event provides enough impetus for Benji to be able to answer Circe's call and come to her aid.
- Benji proves to Circe —though an act of supernatural strength— that he is a vampire.
- Persephone Learns that the boss has designs on power, and may be working against his boss (the Dark Patron).
- Wentworth intercepts Persephone as she is being teleported out and forces her to help him in his plans.
- Persephone returns home and meets with Circe (and a sleepy Benji).
- Persephone has a new tattoo that is controlling her emotions...
- Circe does not like this.
- Viviana might not like this new, less emotional girlfriend...
- ... Vivian is coming over this evening...
