Deep Dweller? I like that girl. Mole comment with a delay, trying to understand who is Erolth and what was his role in what just happen. He finally shrugs and note to himself I can't promise to behave in the shrine of mother silence by night. finishing his ale mug in one go.
OOC:
Mole certainly accept the invitation and don't plan any other business but relax until then.

"He is an odd one, even for an elf. Tidewelcoming? I’d say this tavern is welcoming enough for my tastes."

Nerys takes the section of coral reverently, bowing her head at the young girl.

"We really should go to the greeting of the tide! The movement of the ocean sets the rhythm for villages such as this," she says as she finishes her meal.

Good music and welcoming people, I could plan my retirement to be here
"I agree we should go"
OOC:
Keldran looks suspiciously to the coral stones

"I’ll go, Keldran, but you’ll owe me a drink or 5."

As the evenining turns to the edge of twilight, the villagers head out to Saltmarrow Hollow, a shallow shoal. You notice a Fish headed figure just off the shoreline, then another and another. As you see these fish folk surface one of the villagers looks at you and says, "Aye you see those fish folk yonder. They be Briners. They're nomads of the sea. They keep the lore and legends of Fathom Bay. They watch us every tidewelcome when they're in these parts." The villager, obviously a fisherman, continues on to catch up with his friends.

You also see Pallis, "look, the Drift Ones came," she says with a smile on her face.

The ceremony begins with a song. This time there is a chorus of sea elves:

"Salt binds the soul, foam hides the eye—
Drift into depth where memory dies.
Sing not for breath, but for shape unmade,
Coral remembers all tides obeyed."

After the chorus, the worshippers hand out white flowers. These grow on the hillsides a little further inland. As they cast their petals into the sea, they recite a memory of their past. Slowly they cycle through and now it comes to you. Which memory will you bless the tide with?

Biscuit lowers his head in prayer, wondering what he has got himself into.

Don't worry there will be plenty of action soon...

Keldran gets closer to his mates and warns them, before attention falls upon all of them, in a whisper:
"Don't offer any of your memories. Stay alert. I feel there is some fishy business involded"
"Tell a memory that don't exist"

I certainly owe Buscuit some beers after this one

After the Ceremony is over, the villagers head back to their homes. They rise early.

Suddenly a scream comes from the Jetty as you are nearing the Pickled Ray.

"Jetty Creeper!" shouts a young man who hurries three or four others on to the shore. Lamplight shows a strange creature on all fours coming up out of the water. A teenager is trapped at the other end, he'd have to go through the monster or jump into the water to try and escape. He pulls his knife and a look of determination crosses his face.

What's going on? Have you met the creature before? Mole asks locals while moving toward the creature getting his crossbow off the back.
OOC:
I have a real problem imagining the scene: if monster is just coming out of the water how would a teenager be behind it. Was teenager swimming at the night or what?

Biscuit draws his short bow and just waits to see what happens. He quips: "I wouldn’t worry too much, Mole. I was once married to uglier. And I won that fight, too."

Keldran draws shield and hammer and positions himself aside of the line of fire trying the circle the creature.
"If you are going to fire your arrows, do it before it gets nasty"
OOC:
Keldran will try to get between the creature and the boy

I am reading what I wrote and it is not obvious. The village folk are running in fear. The teen was caught unaware at the end of the jetty. The creature cut off his opputunity to flee (you would not have seen this, but not too difficult to surmise.) Apologies.
The Jetty is a long track of rock and stone, though it gets narrower at the end. The Coral Divers use it as a base to swim out to the nearby reef. The far end of the Jetty overlooks a submerged 40 foot deep drop off into the channel. It is lit by a few lanterns set about for evening strollers.

Nerys raises her shield and points her spear at the aquatic monster and yells "Hey creeper, over here!" trying to keep it from attacking the teen.
Aug 26, 2025 6:15 pm
Biscuit stands next to Nerys and also tries to get the creeper’s attention. He says: "My friend here is very yummy."

secret die rolls...lol

Rolls

Reaction - (2d6)

(24) = 6

The creature turns to you shudders and hisses as it slaps one of the lanterns into the water to your right.
OOC:
We will be rolling for initiative. Here is the Combat sequence:
INITIATIVE AND ORDER OF BATTLE
When the party of adventurers comes into contact with enemies, the order of events is as follows:
1. Check for Surprise: The Referee determines if a surprise roll is required, and if so, both sides roll to see if they are surprised by the sudden encounter. See below for details of the surprise roll.
2. Declare Spells: This is not an option for a group that was surprised; they have to wait until the beginning of the next round.
3. Determine Initiative: Each side rolls a d6 and the side with the highest result is the winner. One roll is made for each side, not for each individual. If this is the first round and one group was surprised, the other side gets to go first automatically, without having to roll a die.
4. Movement and Missile Fire: Each combatant on the side that won initiative may move, or may fire any missile weapons. Then the losers of the initiative roll may move or fire missile weapons.
5. Melee Combat and Spells: Each combatant on the side that won initiative makes any melee attacks (if in melee range) or casts spells. Spells take effect immediately. Spells cannot be cast if the caster is in melee combat with enemies. Losers of the initiative then make their attacks and cast spells.
6. The round is complete. Go back to step 2 (Declare Spells) and repeat the process until the combat is finished.
OOC:
2. DECLARE SPELLS
Any player whose character is going to cast a spell must say so before the initiative roll. (The Referee makes a similar determination for the opponents.) The casting of any spell starts at the beginning of the combat round.
Thus, if the enemies win the initiative roll and damage the spellcaster, the spell’s casting may be disturbed and the spell lost. (This is the Swords & Wizardry interpretation of several places in the Original Rules where a spell must be "ready.")
3. ROLL INITIATIVE
At the beginning of a combat round, each side rolls a d6 for "initiative" — the opportunity to act first.
The side with the highest roll wins, and that group acts first. Initiative rolls may result in a tie. When this happens, the Referee may choose to resolve the actions as if they are simultaneous, or to have both sides re-roll.
