Orm, Dwarf Wizard, God's Blood:
Orm never knew his father, and his mother barely spoke of him, her memories of the old man like that of a foggy dream. He knew his father must've been special though, or at least different, as Orm didn't look like your typical dwarf. Even as a child, he had a gaunt, almost skeletal face, despite being healthy as a horse. His inquisitive, bright blue eyes were offset by a permanently intense stare. Oh yeah, and magic came to him as naturally as a duck to water.
Only when her mother was on her death bed decades later, in her final moments, she pulled Orm in tight and whispered, with an intensity and lucidity she hadn't been able to show in years, "Go find him. Go find Ord. Go find your father…."
And so he did, high and low, but old Ord played the role of absentee father quite well. If he was going to honor his mother's final wish, he needed a different plan.
The dwarf had been visiting Hillshire for a few days, consulting with Father Marcus, when he woke up to news of the raid. Rushing over to the village center he met with Sister Inna and volunteered to rescue the townsfolk. As a priestess of one of the Four Lords (to which Ord belonged), perhaps St. Terragnis could put in a good word for Orm and get his Dad to finally pick up the damn phone.
