Images help

Hi gang!

Iv been having much fun here so far! Thanks to this wonderful community. As a GM Iv been posting chapters after chapters, deeply into the game, learning how to utilize the features of the forums.

I have been having some issues with imgur and similar URL generating sites to inbed images on my posts!

Does anyone have a solution?

I'm using a free App called 'Greenshot', which is a screen capture utility with a built-in link to Imgur. It makes posting images on this forum pretty trivial as all I need to do is capture the image I want to show and paste it in my post. 'Greenshot' seems able to detect that the forum requires an Imgur URL and creates one automatically for the image. So, from a user perspective, the process is literally 'copy and paste', which could not be simpler.

I don't see the image 🤨 I'm assuming no one sees my images actually...

What are the issues? With gp's url generation or are you trying to directly upload to a site and then post it here?

A feature a lot of people aren't aware of is you can just paste an image into a textbox on site and it will upload it and generate and url complete with image tags. (This is without needing the above greenshot! I suspect what you think is greenshot detecting it needs img tags is actually the site doing its thing. This is the first time I've heard of greenshot before so I could be wrong of course )

I can see it on my screen, although I have noticed that it's best to preview a post with an image before submitting it otherwise the link can simply be deleted.

All I can seen are some image icons with associated links.

https://ibb.co/x96LMgr is not a link to an image, it is a link to a web page that has an image and some other stuff. They lie when they call that the image link.

Further down that page is the actual link to the image, but they hide it behind some other url code from reason. You can strip the [ url] ... [ /url] tags from the BBCode they give and get:

You need to link to the image, which will usually end in .png or .jpg or some such.

I think pasting an image from any source (ie not necessarily the Greenshot app you were mentioning) has the same effect of:

1-automatically uploading the pasted image to Imgur

2-automatically creating the necessary tags and URL in the text field of your Gamersplane post editor:

[img] Imgur link here [/img]

In other words, you can simply right click on an image you like on the web, select 'Copy Image', then go to your Gamersplane forum page and paste into the post editor to generate the correct tags/addresses.

Or you can copy the image from a screengrab app, a PDF... anywhere. Just paste it in and (1) and (2) above should just happen automatically.

I did the thing with the image link itself and it works! Yis yis! It does. Is so simple, but if you don't know its hard to figure out.
