"But these are my friends!" Thea turns to face the older man. She tried to brush his hand off her shoulder, but Jorgen is so much stronger than her "Let me go! It's my choice to make!"

Yes, it is an adult choice to make, Will says in fightery agreement. We shouldn’t tarry, people. My burial awaits.

Miyana eyes Jorgen with an icy glare. "If you seek to control her, you will only make her yearn that much more strongly for freedom."

Boudica looks to Jorgen and says, "I vow to do what I can to keep her safe, Jorgen."

Jorgen
"This is a bad idea" Jorgen, reluctantly, let's go of Thea's shoulder, when he notices all of you staring at him. He mutters something about his 'oath to protect her', then, with a tired sigh, he follows the rest of you inside
Aug 24, 2025 2:57 pm
The goblin cavern smells even worse inside than it does outside. The stench is nearly unbearable, a suffocating mixture of dung and rotting flesh and unwashed bodies. The sheep are herded into the old knight's tomb, which now lies vacant. The sarcophagus has been opened and looted, and now served as a latrine for the goblins

Red eyes glint at the darkness, all around you. And once the sheep are safely inside, the goblins become more and more belligerent, purposely bumping into you, blocking your path with their bodies, and cursing at you everytime they are forced to scurry away.

What do you do?

Will didn’t realize he was staring at Jorgen. Pardon me.
Turning away, our neolegendary fellow leads into the cavern. Ignoring the goblins, Will simply forces his way through, towards the inner chamber. He brandishes the two-handed sword of ages, and waits.

Boudica casts Light on her mace to shine bright lights into the eyes of these goblins, and then Bless for her and her comrades. Just in case!

Miyana, for her part, keeps her bow at the ready and makes sure the goblins know it.

OOC:
sorry, took some time to draw this (primitive) map. The ghostly knight was originally in the room just north of the entrance, but he is now gone, and his tomb has been looted by the goblins.
The passage to the west leads into the 'inner chamber', where the carrion stench is so bad the sheep themselves bleat and stop in their tracks. The stone sarcophagi along the walls have been cracked and toppled, some of them pried open, with the lids now broken and shattered. The interiors now serve as sleeping, or fire, pits, and storage for food and other worthless junk. A skeleton or two remained complete, but most have parts missing - maybe to be found in the heap of bones mixed with refuse and gnawed animal carcasses sitting at the corner of the room.

The goblins themselves swarm around you like vermin. Many sit near the broken sarcophagi, gnawing on bones, or crouching near the fires. They curse and snarl at you when you pass by, even spitting deliberately at your boots, but none of them is bold enough to attack you.

Yet.

Will begins waving Two-Hander around meandering goblins. Just enough to keep them several feet away from the company, and to know he means business!

You know who I am, he exclaims to the vermin. Now get back!

Boudica quickly scans this room -- they had been here once before, after all -- wanting to determine is there is anything likely to be of historic value that remains. Otherwise, she turns to her companions and says, "perhaps we should search in the other direction past the entrance, to the east? Whatever was once here has been spoiled, ruined, lost." She sighs.
Aug 26, 2025 3:39 am
Boudica finds that properly searching the room would take time, and would involve shooing the goblins away from their make-shift dens, and even then, there is no telling what and where they might have hidden something of importance (you can assume anything valuable is likely tucked away somewhere, out of your prying eyes). Spears (or rather, sharpened sticks), soon appear in the goblins hands, when Will starts waving his swords around, and Barns holds the hilt of his. The goblins become more and more belligerent, and there are more of them coming from every nook and cranny in the cavern.

If Boudica sees the one she spoke with at the beginning, she confronts him and says, "Get your people in line, goblin! We brought the woolies, so let us look! Tell them to back off or we will slaughter the woolies. Now Stay. Back." She sighs and heads east to explore the other side of the tomb.

Will goes with too, for to explore the other side of his the tomb!

"I will not hesitate to kill you," Miyana warns, bringing her bow to the ready.

The stench coming from the other side of the tomb is overwhelming. The entire far side of it has been reduced to a reeking cesspit, where generations upon generations of goblins relieved themselves without restraint. The floor isn't even stone anymore, but a swamp of dung. Your feet sink deeper with every step, making a sickening 'squelch' as you advance forward.

The faint slope of the ground suggests that if you dare to press farther, you would sink even deeper, perhaps up to your waist, or perhaps deeper still. The buzzing of the flies is so loud you have to raise your voices to hear each other; there are so many that soon they start swarming over you as well, and no amount of swatting would keep them from landing over your eyes, mouths, and bare skin.

But at least the goblins didn't follow you down the tunnel. They stopped in the intersection, spears held up high, blocking your way back.
