Will shudders back to consciousness. Eh…wha…? Stirred awake, our fightery fellow goes for his two-handed blade. Emerald eyes gazing into the night!

A hulking figure lumbers out of the darkness, into the glow of the magical light. Towering nearly ten feet tall, with sickly green skin stretched over thick muscles and clawed fingers on his long arms. It doesn't stop to growl, or threaten them. Instead, it lunges forward with terrifying speed, straight for the nearest adventurer

The troll's thick hide deflects Will's blade, and the few wounds you manage to inflict begin to close almost instantly. The creature roars when a sudden burst of blinding light flashes in front of its eyes. It staggers and flails its massive arms in wide arcs. It snarls in frustration, disoriented and unable to see, before it decides to turn and flee into the darkness.
OOC:
Yuo have one round to try to stop the troll from escaping, if you'd like to. Else he is going to run back into the woods

Barns wave goodbye and makes no effort to stop it.

Boudica watches as it retreats. She says, "The creature shall remain blinded for the better part of two hours. Hopefully it does not return after that, but we should be on our guard."

The troll is gone, and the rest of the journey passed without further danger, though not without hardship. By the time you reach Threshold you are all cold, soaked, and tired. The guards at the gate eye all of you with suspicion, especially those of you carrying weapons. They are all very jumpy, and warn you that Baron Theodorou enacted a curfew starting at sundown, and that no one is allowed on the streets after dark, without exception.

Once they wave you through the approach the closed carriage carefully, knocking on the sliding door so they could see who is riding inside.

What do you do?

As they arrive at the gate, and Boudica can see that there are guards, she makes sure to check in with the Patriarch, letting him know they approach, and that there are guards who will likely demand to see the inside of the carriage. She would ask him how he would like us to approach. Announce him? Keep his rival his hush for now? Ask to see the local Thyatian religious people immediately? Etc

"Thank you, daughter" the journey has taken it's toll on the old man. He is even paler than usual, and is sitting under a heavy blanket to try to warm himself from the biting cold "You have done more than enough for me already. Brother Johan will now show us the rest of the way to Bishop Theodorou" he stops for a moment, before saying farewell, ending with a very uncharacteristic blessing for the holy father of the Church: "May the Three guide your path"

There is a small commotion when the guards finally peek into the carriage, with the captain of the guard immediately dispatching runners to the Baron's adobe, and to the church, but they dare not delay the holy Father. His carriage is soon allowed to continue on its path to the Baron, leaving you alone in the rain.

Miyana sighs and shakes her head, then turns to the others. "Shall we head to the inn?"

Boudica says, "Sure, though I want to check in on Moryana as well. And I wonder how the imprisoned priest is?"

The Silver Dragon Inn looks deserted. The usual scent of beer and grilled pork is gone, replaced only by a faint smell of damp wood and the sound of rain tapping on the roof. Only a handful of people sit among the long tables, one of them being Hunter. The big redheaded warrior with the thick beard looks miserable as he lifts a spoon from his bowl of porridge, grimacing before forcing himself to eat it. He gives you a gruff 'hello' when he recognizes you, then returns to his meal without saying another word.

"Is this place always this lively?" Thea removes the hood from over her face and takes a quick look around "What's with the curfew the guards mentioned?"
Aug 3, 2025 3:43 pm
Boudica shakes her head sadly to Thea and says, "Things must have gotten much worse after we left..." She turns to Hunter, and perhaps the innkeeper if present, and says, "Greetings, friends. Might we learn the news from Threshold? What has happened these past few weeks since our last visit?"

https://i.pinimg.com/736x/3c/01/91/3c0191fa0132070fc71b256d7c9168a2.jpg Drenched rat Barns gladly enters the Silver Dragon Inn with greater expectations. Thoughts of hot stew and a brew fill his thoughts and dry out a bit. Perhaps even a bath and room. He has hopes that the service here matches the name.

Hopeful him informs the others, "Let's get a table and a pitcher." as he saunters over to empty table to commandeer with hopes of a server soon to arrive as well before he has to yell to get one. He wants service and has coin. He is a bit put off that he received no compensation for service that he has render as his sum of coin could use help.

If his eyes catch those of the hunter than he will return a nod back. That or he mostly ignores the big redheaded warrior as he appears to be in some misery. Barns is rather thinking more of himself.

Hunter pushes his half-eaten bowl of porridge aside with a sigh, leaving the wooden spoon stuck in the mush.
"It all went to shit after the riots near the church. Some knights from the Crystal Order rode in from Kelvin, real high-and-mighty types. Said they were here to keep the peace, but I'm thinkin' they’re just lookin’ for someone to knock around." He scratches at his beard "They caught some young Traladaran lads, said they had torches and rocks and meant to start somethin’. So they beat the piss out of ’em. Knocked their bloody teeth out, they did" he sighs again "Didn’t take long for the whole place to go up. Now the Baron locked the city tighter than a virgin’s thighs"
