Kibamura is a quiet, remote village nestled between the misty hills and old pine forests of a forgotten province. The people live simple lives: rice farmers, hunters, shrine keepers, and artisans. But now, something stirs beneath the earth.

Three nights ago, the wind stopped. The dogs began to howl at midday. Strange symbols began appearing in the dirt, on doorways, on children’s foreheads. And last night, someone walked into the fire during the village prayer, smiling.

Fearing doom, the elders sent word to distant lands, calling for warriors, heroes, even mercenaries. Anyone willing to stand between Kibamura and the darkness encroaching from beyond the trees.

You have answered that call.

This will be a level 10 game using the new rules. Admittedly my first time DMing with them

This is transparently a Seven Samurai type scenario. Prepare the village to change the conditions of an onslaught finale.

I would be interested.
I haven't tried the new rules so there will be a slight learning curve.
I want to mess around with the new rules. This might be a good way.

Interested. I've been joining 2024 games so have some feel for it. Probably Barbarian for simplicity though if non-humans like gnomes are allowed.

I am intrigued and would like to play, but

One question, what would the post rate be?

Holy cow yes.

I would probably go for a hexblade and some kind of ronin based on being completely terrifying.

Like some kind of Gouma that became flesh from collective grudge of the mountains of dead in sekigahara.

Maybe borrowing from the film he was the Shogun's Executioner?

This is more an interest Check first before official recruitment. Probably 2-3 times a week.

I am interested in playing 5e24 yes. The teaser sounds interesting. But I have no clue what seven samurai means. If we are literally expected the play samurai, then I might have less interest.

Seven Samurai’s (1954) is a movie masterpiece, which inspired the Magnificent Seven (1960) with Yul Brynner and the remake (2016) with Denzel Washington.

This movie also was an inspiration for comedy great The Three Amigos (1986).

I am sorry, you are forgetting the best one. The Ridiculous 6 (2015) ‧ Western/Comedy With Adam Sandler, Terry Crews, Jorge Garcia, Taylor Lautner, Rob Schneider, Steve Buscemi, and Luke Wilson.

The original is also long, really long, though the theatre I first saw it in did have a sushi bar at intermission for a more Japanese experience. Worth it; better than the remakes though "The Magnificent 7" was very good.

The real basic premise is mercenaries hired to protect the town from raiders. Their is a prepping the town part of it/training the town to fight. Huge battle scene with overwhelming odds.

While I am certainly going for an eastern-feel, I don't think "samurai" is required.

Other touch point Seven Samurai shows, Rebel Moon, The Mandaloriann "Sanctuary" episode, AtLA "The Swamp", so much more

Sounds cool then. I kinda was afraid that 7 samurai would be a boring group. But if it is just mercs, then I am interested

An awesome premise, new rules, and good people?

You have plenty of interest, but if you need another... I'll toss my hat in this ring.

Ok Monday I will make the official recruitment thread. Been still noodling the guidelines on character creation and setting but should be good to go

If only it wasn't 5e. I just can't force myself to like the system. I'm enjoying SpaceSeeker's Dungeon Busters game more for the nostalgia factor (that and they are a really good storyteller) of playing through a classic module. Hope everyone has fun, though!

Question if I may. Or checking the assumptions. I assume story will consist of two episodes the second being a log combat probably with multiple waves of enemy attacks, which would be a fantastic combat experience.
The question is about the first part of the story though. Are PCs trying to solve any social challenges (motivating commoners to fight maybe?), do exploration (scouting into enemy territory maybe)?

P.S. I am probably with WhtKnt there. I would believe there are better systems to tell story about "training the town". And I am surprised about a DnD commoner (even trained and equipped) to be part of a combat against CR 10+ enemies in DnD.
