Agneya nods. "Right, then. You check the boards and see if there's anything interesting. I'll talk to Xil, see if he has any work for us. Sound good?"

Agneya watches as Xil and his people get settled in, then makes her way over towards them. She waits until noticed, then says. "Hey, Xil. Been a while. How're things?"

OOC:
so, @Smiley, what kind of jobs can I see on the board?
Jul 21, 2025 7:42 pm
The bounty board flickers and changes randomly, but the few jobs that sound interesting are...

Ash to Ashes – Retrieval Contract
Location: Drahvax Prime
Contract Details:
A cET salvage team lost a prototype drilling AI core in Sector 9-B during a recent lava surge. Retrieve the core intact. Bonus if the drone is still functional.
Pay: 7,000 credits (10,000 if drone is active)
Complication: Seismic instability and corrupted facility AIs detected. Hazard bonus approved.
Contact: Overseer Krandell, cET Operations
Planet Summary:
Once a volcanic mining colony, Drahvax Prime is now a scorched husk plagued by unpredictable eruptions and ash storms. Automated mining drones still operate deep within lava-cracked facilities, guarded by malfunctioning defense systems.

Void Bloom – Exotic Cargo Escort
Location: Lunessa IV
Contract Details:
Escort a shipment of live Void Bloom flowers to the Verdari Customs Station in orbit. These plants are time-sensitive and unstable in transit.
Pay: 5,500 credits
Complication: Smugglers and pirates often target these routes. Cargo must not be jostled or exposed to open air.
Contact: Liral Meko, Verdari-Affiliated Botanist
Planet Summary:
Lunessa IV is a lush, bioluminescent jungle world with breathable atmosphere but a toxic ecosystem. The planet blooms with alien flora used in high-end stimulants and hallucinogens. The Verdari strictly regulate exports from here.

Gutter Star Blues – Bounty Hunt
Location: Strathorne Station (Orbiting Terrek-9)
Contract Details:
WANTED: Taz Vek, known conman and slicer. Last seen rigging gambling dens aboard Strathorne. Wanted alive for debt collection and hacking charges.
Pay: 4,200 credits (6,000 alive)
Bonus: Extra 1,000 if his stolen slicer rig is recovered intact.
Contact: Luda Thesk, freelance bounty broker
Planet Summary:
Terrek-9 is a dead world with a massive orbital junk belt—a scrapyard graveyard for broken ships and corporate failures. Strathorne Station is a crumbling outpost run by ex-pirates and mercenary tech crews.

Windswept Descent – Emergency Extraction
Location: Gryssalt
Contract Details:
Drop in and extract a Dreemari psychologist stranded during a failed humanitarian mission. Hostile locals and drone swarms active in the region.
Pay: 9,000 credits
Urgency: High. Dreemari contract will expire in 48 hours. Loss of life reflects poorly on Verdari.
Contact: Dreemari Coordination Bureau
Planet Summary:
A wind-ravaged world of jagged canyons and floating rock formations. Gryssalt is home to scavenger tribes and rogue drone colonies. The constant storm gales make landing—and escaping—a technical nightmare.

Ice and Iron – Mercenary Deterrent Op

Hazards: Waterborne megafauna and unstable terrain
Contact: Hektri Saros, logistics rep for Crimson Loop Freight
Planet Summary:
Delvora is a semi-aquatic world with coral mountains, shallow seas, and immense predatory lifeforms. Light trade exists thanks to floating dock-cities built atop mobile reef-beasts.

The Crimson Tongue – VIP Escort / Protection
Location: Vashara-9

Protect singer-prophet Liria Vanthe during her appearance at the Temple of Echoes. Known to provoke religious extremists.
Pay: 8,500 credits
Bonus: 1,500 for media-friendly footage of incident-free concert

Location: Zenthros, the Hollow World
Contract Details:
Recover and extract an artifact known as the "Crown of the Last Sun." Believed located in a sunken cathedral below Core Spire 3.
Pay: 10,000 credits

Jul 21, 2025 9:28 pm
Agneya approaches the booth where Regex Xil and his crew have gathered. The Gloam is still at the bar, carefully balancing a tray of drinks, while the other two companions—an armored Vellari with glowing ocular implants and a scarred human with chromed arms—keep watch with seasoned, restless eyes.

Regex Xil stands out even in this den of scoundrels and smugglers. A towering figure wrapped in a dark, tattered cloak, his body is more machine than flesh. Sleek black cybernetic plating covers nearly every inch of him, etched with faint orange-glowing lines that pulse rhythmically with artificial life. A reinforced spinal array glows faintly at his back, and one arm—a heavy-duty synthetic limb ending in titanium fingers—rests casually on the table. His human face is partially retained, framed by tight curls of dark hair, but much of his skull is overlaid with metal, including a gleaming implant running down his right temple.

As Agneya approaches, he turns toward her, studying her with a mechanical eye that focuses with a soft hum. He raises a mug of grog in greeting and finishes it with a single swallow before slamming it onto the table with a clank.

"Agneya!"
he says with a grin that stretches the edge of his remaining flesh. His voice is rough but rich, like gravel rubbed against velvet.
"I was hoping to see you here. How are you, my burning ball of chaos?"
Jul 21, 2025 9:43 pm
Grinning, she walks over and slaps him lightly on the shoulder. "Would you believe, I settled down on a farm over in the Ignus cluster and am getting married next month?" She tries to keep a straight face but it fails even before she's finished the sentence. Laughing, she continues, "No seriously, doing good. Got a new ship and a partner. He's a bit stiff, but he's reliable in a pinch. How about you? Decided to walk the straight and narrow yet?"
Jul 22, 2025 8:26 pm
Regex chuckles, a low mechanical sound layered beneath his natural voice, as if an internal servo found the idea amusing too. He leans back in the booth, the black plating on his chest hissing softly with the motion. The orange light pulsing along his torso flickers once as he shakes his head.

"Me? Walking the straight and narrow?" he says, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "That’ll be the day the Verdari start handing out hugs and forgiveness. There’s a bounty on my head in six systems—eight if you count the Rimworlds. I’m practically a tourist attraction on Vornax Prime."

With a quick gesture, he nudges the Gloam beside him with a plated elbow. The small creature lets out a soft squeak but obediently shuffles over, clutching the tray of drinks tightly. It clambers into the booth corner with practiced agility, making room.

Regex pats the now-empty seat with a metallic clink and raises a brow at Agneya. "Come on, Sit down, stir the pot, and spill some gossip. It’s not every day the Queen of the Spaceways graces us with her presence." The comment is loaded with sarcasm.

He smirks, the remaining skin at the edge of his jaw creasing just slightly, the rest hidden behind glinting alloy and dim lighting.
Jul 22, 2025 9:49 pm
"I found some interesting jobs"
He looks at Regex for a moment
"And I see you've found an acquaintance"
Jul 23, 2025 1:08 am
As she's taking her seat, Berk approaches and comments. "That I did. Berk, meet Regex Xil, slickest captain this side of the Divide. Regex, this is my partner, Berk. He and I own the new ship together." She motions for Berk to join the group, then continues.

"Gossip. Well, let's see. Since the last time we met, I got sold out, captured, put on trial, released on a technicality and spent almost a year scrounging from job to job. Then, I ran into a rich idiot who didn't know not to draw into an inside straight and split the pot with Berk here. We've taken some freight jobs - mostly low pay stuff that barely covers maintenance and fuel, and now we're here looking for something a bit less boring and a lot more lucrative." She takes another drink and winks in an exaggerated, amused fashion. "Being 'Queen of the Spaceways' is expensive!"
Jul 23, 2025 2:12 pm
"Talking about that, I found 2 possible jobs with good pay, one is a boring recovery of an AI core while the other is an emergency extraction, the first one pays a bit more and is safer, but the second one seems more exciting, and it could get us the gratitude of the Dreemari"
Jul 23, 2025 6:25 pm
Agneya leans forward, "Emergency Extraction sounds interesting. Anytime the word 'Emergency' shows up, it's probably lucrative, assuming you can pull it off. Let me see the details."

She pauses to read the job posting, as Berk forwards it to her, then grins. "Oh, yeah. That sounds doable. Nasty weather conditions make it a challenge, but we're up for that."
Jul 24, 2025 2:29 am
Regex leans in slightly, the dim light from the bar catching the sharp lines of his augmented faceplate. His voice drops low, calm and deliberate, with the hint of a smirk tugging at one side of his mouth.

"I’ve got a way for you to make some fast creds, if you're up for a bit of shadow work. There’s an exchange going down nearby—couple hours from now, maybe less. Simple handoff. I give a briefcase, they give the pay. Only thing is… I don’t exactly trust the bastard I’m dealing with."

He picks up his mug, takes a slow sip, then sets it down with a soft clink.
"I need the trade to happen. No drama, no blasters drawn, just smiles and nods. But once it’s done?"
He leans in a little closer, voice barely above a whisper.
"I want my case back. Quietly. Discreetly. I don’t care if you lift it from his hands, tail him to a dead drop, or mug him in a back alley and blame some strung-out junkie—just make sure it looks like anything but a setup."

His mechanical hand flexes once, faint servos whining softly under the hum of the room.

"Don’t open it. Don’t ask. Just get it. I want him thinking it’s the universe screwing him, not me."
Jul 24, 2025 3:52 am
Agneya nods. "One question - you said you don't trust the guy? What happens if the trade goes south? Should we kick in to help?"
Jul 24, 2025 1:27 pm
Berk silently waits for an aswer, but he doesn't seem to sure about this job
Jul 24, 2025 2:45 pm
Regex snorts, a short, metallic sound undercut by a low chuckle. He swirls the last of his drink in the mug, watching the liquid settle before answering.
"If the trade does go south, it’s because he planned to screw me—and that means all bets are off."

He leans forward again, voice sharp now, all humor drained from his tone.
"But I don’t want you stepping in unless you have to. If blasters come out, fine—deal with it. Just make damn sure both cases don't vanish in the chaos. And keep them intact. I can’t stress that enough."

He drums his metal fingers on the table, slow and steady.
"Clean, quiet, efficient. That’s the job. You jump in too soon, you spook him. You wait too long, we all lose. Trust your gut. If things start to smell rotten, then you act."
Jul 25, 2025 12:30 am
Considering, she looks over at Berk. "What do you think? Personally, sounds like easy money, but I know you're not too up on shadier things, so I'll leave it to you. You say the word, we help out Regex or we head off to the 'emergency extraction.'"
Jul 26, 2025 6:39 pm
"Normally I do not like this kind of job, but if you trust this guy I believe the job can give use enough credits to get what we want"
Jul 27, 2025 1:00 am
"Great! Sounds like we're in. I assume you have recon of the area where you're meeting? If you can share it, it'd make the job a lot easier. When are you meeting?"
Jul 28, 2025 1:54 pm
Regex leans back in the booth, arching a brow, clearly pleased by the question. He taps a small data-slate on the table, and a dim holographic projection hums to life above it—grainy, but clear enough to make out.
"I do. Of course I do. This ain’t my first shady handshake."

The projection shows a stretch of cracked ferrocrete in an abandoned industrial zone, maybe half a klick outside the settlement dome. Rusted piping, leaning warehouse skeletons, and flickering streetlights cast harsh shadows. There’s only one major approach—the rest is alleys and rubble. A single cargo hauler is parked nearby.
"Old maintenance yard outside the Respite’s bubble, couple hours from now. Neutral ground. No cams, no security, and nobody around to ask questions. That's the idea, anyway."

He zooms in on a crumbling scaffold overlooking the meeting site.
"You and your crew can hole up there. Plenty of sightlines, lots of cover. Just stay out of view until the handoff’s done. If he walks, tail him. If he pulls something..."

Regex flashes a grin—sharp, unkind.
"...well, you know what to do. But don’t get seen. I want this clean, quiet, and untraceable."

He shuts off the projection and slides the data-slate toward Agneya.
"Coordinates and access codes are all there. I’ll handle the show. You just make sure I get my curtain call."
Jul 30, 2025 1:30 am
Nodding and looking serious for once as she listens to the plans outline, she sits up straight when the pirate captain finishes. "Right. So, we set up here." she points to the scaffold, "Then, when the deal is done, we tail him out to another location. There, we can recover the case however we like - larceny, bribery, seduction, whatever. As long as it doesn't get back to you and we get the case, you don't care."

Looking over at Berk, she asks "Any questions? Opinions on how best to liberate the goods from our Mark?"
Jul 30, 2025 2:13 pm
"Wait, is this guy a criminal? he may have a bounty on him, we capture him, bring him to the authorities, and just tell them this was an undercover operation to get this guy, everyone wins"
