I mean... it's not Restricted, and so isn't categorically against starting equipment rules. But the Findsman are a specific and separate Force Tradition from the Jedi, and this would appear to be for the Findsmen a bit like the Lightsaber is to the Jedi, so ... it doesn't make a ton sense to me why you would have it?

But ultimately it's ok with me, if you think it makes sense for your character to have bought one somewhere some time.

crazybirdman says:
OOC:
wait, are Cevron and Miica Jedi?
Miica is a Jedi, fresh off the Trials, Cevron is I guess a Padawan.

But, yes.

I suppose Kolibri can try to use Sense to make sure they mean us no harm, but these Gammoreans seem chill 😁

PBP strikes again... trying to drag my feet here a little bit gang.

Hoping valdatta will return...

In the meantime, let's have a quick check in.

birdman I know you haven't been here long, and so may or may not have a strong opinion on it, but based on the roleplay I'm seeing, I'm not sure if you guys are enjoying the kind of deep dive into Gammorrean culture and the diplomatic mission gameplay, or if it's just annoying to you?

I had more gameplay centered around all that planned, but if you guys aren't finding the choices and roleplay and gameplay particularly interesting or fun?

We can skip the rest of that and go to the "next part".

I think it's hurting us that valdatta has just disappeared (the second uncharacteristic absence I've experienced from an otherwise reliable, and relatively long time forum member recently).

But, obviously this was billed as an "Order 66" game, focusing on the survival of Force Users in it's wake. And so the diplomatic mission up front is/was just a way to ease us into the setting, introduce the mechanics, and to kind of keep you guys on your toes as players, not knowing when it's gonna come. And maybe those goals have been accomplished to the degree that is needed?

There is another aspect to the whole diplomatic mission that will become clear later, but... I don't know. With in person play this would be a single session, but things move slowly in pbp and I'm afraid this is going to feel like it drags on and I'm just not getting great vibes about it from you all.

And so I wanted to ask/check in. If the diplomatic mission is "missing the mark" for you, just let me know, and we can happily move on.

Thoughts?

I want to say thanks for running so far. I know attrition of players can be a drag. But I can say I've enjoyed it so far.

I am finding the diplomatic mission interesting, probably more so than Cevron actually, which is also interesting to roleplay. Gamorreans aren't a specices I've studied very much so I get to learn along with Cevron. Don't know what is established details from extended universe and what is your invention so kudos for that.

I think you've had a good balance of action and down time. I think one thing that makes me roleplay Cevron more passive is the presence of Master Barouk as any decision and direct contact should probably go throug him.

I'm enjoying everything so far. I'm happy that the game doesn't appear to be all about combat, or full of problems that will be solved with lightsabers.
I like learning more about Gammorrean culture, and would actually like my character to explore it a bit more, but don't want to take time away from the the other PC's or the mission.

Ok, thanks for the input. Good to hear.

Sounds like we're ok proceeding with a zoom in on the diplomatic mission for a bit more.

If you want to know more about what is, "official" lore and what I'm making up, I'd be happy to talk about it more (just cuz it's fun to talk about and think about, and I don't think it would spoil anything unless the not-knowing just helps your immersion or something).

So far, the only question is are the parasites canon? 😂 Or were they features in a book or something?
Oct 28, 2025 5:48 pm
They are Legends (pre-Disney acquisition) canon believe it or not! :P

Hey gang, just a heads up.

I have been reaching out to valdatta periodically via PM, to check in, and try to understand if he will have an ability to return to the game in the future.

I have received no response.

As is my "policy", if a player ghosts with no basic level of communication to let us know what's going on, I remove them from the game after X number of contacts or time.

Unfortunately, that time is nearing for valdatta. Which sucks because I've gamed with them in the past and know they're usually a good player. But I will be removing them soon, however I am also trying to bring on a new player.

Just wanted to keep you all in the loop, as this kind of turn over can affect everyone.

Cool. Sounds fair.

Just a heads up gang, I have two kids home sick today (and had one yesterday), so will have a bit of a lull in posting while this all gets sorted out.
Nov 18, 2025 3:09 pm
No worries. Hope they get well soon :)

@PlebeianG, I'd encourage you to read the story thread so you can understand what's going on and what has transpired, but it's also a lot so I'll catch you up with a summary as well:

We have 3 Force User PCs: 2 Jedi (one of which is you), and a Jedi Service Corps kind of survival specialist.

You are all on a diplomatic mission to Gamorr, serving under a Jedi Master, accompanied ofc by a detachment of Clone Troopers.

The timeline is, we are deep into the Clone Wars. The whole thing feels like it's at a breaking point, one way or the other. The Galactic Republic is desperate for allies, as almost the entirety of the Outer Rim seems to be aligning against them. And while the Separatists have expanded their influence, they have also suffered some terrible recent losses such as the alleged assassination of their leader, the Count of Serenno, at the hands of the Jedi.

The diplomatic mission is characterized by a Gamoorean Matron/Queen who is attempting to unite a large number of disparate Gamorrean clans, for the first time in hundreds of years.

The Jedi have managed to insert themselves into this process.

During this multi-clan summit of Gamorrean leaders, there are also some cultural celebrations and events going on, to try to help bring them together.

We are currently at a point where, as PCs and serving in a diplomatic capacity as Jedi, you guys have the ability to choose between 3 different cultural events to observe and participate in today:

1. Pod races, either as an observer, or as it is understood, ad hoc participants are welcomed as well.

2. A multi-clan group-hunt, which consists of an excursion into the swamps and mountains near the Citadel.

3. And the meal preparations for the various communal meals to occur during the Accord. During which there are various cultural events put on by various clans for the meal-preparers.

You can't do the Hunt. As that's where our other 2 Force users are, and you weren't there and it's already in flight.

But you can do either of the other 2 events.

And we will just bring you into the story by... saying you've always been here!

There were 2 other Force User characters at the beginning. They ghosted as players. But we never established anything about their PCs, so we'll just say that you were one of those original Jedi accompanying the mission!

You've been here the whole time, but we just haven't zoomed in on your "story" until now.

Welcome to being a protagonist! :)

Important note: the day before the cultural events... Upon disembarking your Republic transport and during a welcoming ceremony, you were all attacked by a group of Gamorrean dissidents.

So... there's some cultural tensions here amongst the Gamorreans over the involvement of the Jedi (who as a whole the planet isn't crazy about).

Another important note: there is also a Temple of an ancient Gamorrean Warlord - who was a Force User - which as a secret/secondary mission you Jedi have been tasked with studying and learning about. (And have been promised an invite to by the Matron, if the clans unite).

So, a question I have is as of the moment I start, what is my recognized rank? Am I a Padawan still? If so, who is the Master tending to our training? Am I a fresh Jedi [Knight] able to operate on my own with the group like it seems to be hinted at by the recap and the options? I'm just trying to figure out the perspective I should base my character's approach from.
Nov 22, 2025 2:18 am
You're a Padawan.

Jedi Master Hirani Barouk is in charge of the mission. She is involved directly in the peace talks amongst the Gamorrean clans.

You guys are supposed to be out serving in a broader diplomatic function with the more general populous of the Gamorreans. Representing the Republic well, representing the Jedi well.

You are able to operate on your own in that function.

Hey gang, between my absences from work last week (and having to play catch up now), and then the American holiday occurring this week (for which I'm traveling), I will probably not be posting much until Dec. 2 or so.

Apologies, but we'll see you all then.

Sounds good! Happy Thanksgiving everyone
