Interest Check: Mage the Awakening 1e, ritual magic

Hey, Gamers!

I've been contemplating running a game mentioned above, but with an amendment.

I was always interested in a magic system that works differently than superpowers, and the Chronicler's Guide has a variant option exactly for that. The requirements to make a magic effect:

Arcanum Rating Successes Needed # of Reagents
1 10 3
2 15 4
3 20 5
4 25 6
5 30 7

You can collect successes over time, each roll takes a fixed time (one hour by default, but it's negotiable), and mages can join a ritual circle and help. One primary actor makes the usual rolls, the aides roll with limited dice.

I supposed the setting could be somewhere less conventional than the US or old Europe, like Finland, Japan, Egypt, a Hispanic country, etc.

I don't have more now about setting or story, I'm gauging interest if I should start gathering ideas for trying this variant rule.

I have read you post 3 time now and I'm still not sure I totally understand.

I assuming that you are asking if there are any players interested in playing Mage the Awakening, but from there on I'm confused. Is the table a rule reference?

Do you have a story in mind?

I believe he's seeing if there would be an interest in a game with his proposed houserule/optional rule in effect. If there is, he'll work on developing the idea into something more but if no one wants to try the rule he won't bother working to flesh out the idea.

At least, that's how I took it. 🤷‍♂️ YMMV, of course.

Exactly. I'll mend the opening post to be clearer.

I know the rulebook only by name so I wouldn't have the means to make a character or play, I believe.
But I find the setting very interesting.

Hey Dangerman just as a heads up the person proposing this game hasn't logged in for a while (The zzz by the name.), and it was proposed 3 months ago, so it is likely not happening.

There has been an influx of WoD discussion on the site though the last few weeks, so fingers crossed a Mage game might pop up, or a different WoD game. There is a Sabbat game currently looking for players.

Its a good question KathyMiachel, but did you notice the Zzz beside gakusei name? That means that he has been inactive for more than a month. I doubt you will get an answer

It's a spam bot. There was a link in the "Toca Boca" line, leading to likely some unwholesome place.

Edit: see also - bot's "interests" in its profile.
