16 + 12 + 12 + 15 + 8 = 63

75 - 63 = 12

Stats = 16, 15, 12, 12, 12, 8

I think I got that right :)
You did! That's a nice healthy spread, too.

Sent in my character sheet now too.

Got some ideas for backstory and such, but I'd like to wait on the specifics until everyone's gotten started on character creation. Might be that some of our characters backstories could be intertwined, given how small the town is?

This is absolutely something I'd love to see from y'all. The town is so small that at the very least, you know who each other is, what your profession is, who your family is and your general backstory. Seriously small town.

My character sheet may take a few days...just got home from a 12 hour shift at work...family time tonight and tomorrow (Easter). Should have time to finish it up on Monday.

No rush, friends! If it takes us until Wednesday or Thursday to get the backgrounds and characters worked out that's all good.

I gave Raddue a bit of a background where our characters are kinda linked around music.

If anyone doesn't have time or just wants to see the kind of stuff I had in mind for the campaign, I have plenty of ideas of how you could all be related and/of intertwined with each other and the world at large.

Ah, alright, linked in any specific way? Maybe I could work that into my backstory as well. :)

I'm all ears!

For those who want, maybe we could post our backstories in this thread as we work on them? Might make it easier to find common points of connection.

Also, about the village, I presume it's mainly humans living there? My current idea is that Nelie is part of a halfling family living in the town, would that work?

Synaptic we are linked through Johan's love of music. When he isn't training, hunting, or protecting the vill he is listening Nelie play and sing and bugging her to let him play his reed flute with her.

The Ravenclaw clan have always been the hunters and protectors of our village. Johan was trained by his father and uncles. They have spent months in the wilderness at a time as he was growing up. All of his gear has been handed down to him by his Grandfather as was his fathers handed down to him by his grandfather. So there are two sets of gear that have been passed down through the generations. Also he has always loved music and has had his reed flute since he was very young. His grandfather Zeddicus also made this for him so it is that much more special. He loves going and listening to Nelie Amberwhistle play with the hopes he might get to play with her sometimes.

Here are mundane and supernatural ideas of how you could all know each other more intimately than simply living in the same village:

Mundane

1. Two of you are directly related. Or maybe more, if you want to be cousins.
2. Several years ago two of you were helping out in the Wilds (trapping, logging, foraging, whatever) when the leader of the expedition was hurt badly. They fell down a ravine, the tree they were logging went the wrong way and crushed them or what have you. You two worked together to save that person (or you worked hard and failed, and now maybe there are people in the town who won't let you forget your failings.
3. One of you fell into Lake Criss, either when fishing or playing or trying to take a shortcut or something. One or more of the rest of the group helped fish you out of the water.

Supernatural

1. While on patrol or playing in the woods, one, two or more of you came across a circle of saplings, mushrooms and rocks in the woods.
2. While tending to the modest cemetery in the village, one or more of you kept seeing a shadow in the corner of your eye but when you turned to look at it, it was gone.
3. One of you got lost in the Wilds for quite some time. Everyone thought you were dead, there was even a funeral. You came back months later and you can't remember what happened.

Let me know if these help or reach out to me personally if you want some more personalized options.

First draft of Nelie's backstory. Might change some things around, depending on what fits with other characters.

In Ormskirk, everyone pulls their own weight. That doesn't change just cause you're 3 feet tall. A fact the Amberwhistle family have always been very concious of. They always worked long, grueling days and did their best to give back to the community.

Nelie, last and least of their children, didn't manage to live up to those expectations. Small and frail even by halfling standards, she lacked the strength and stamina needed to work in the fields and forests. Instead she did small chores wherever she could, and when others her age started spending more time outdoors in work or play, she often ended up around the communal hearth with those in the town too infirm or young to work. There she listened raptly to the tales and songs of her elders, and in time learned to create her own stories for the amusement of the smaller children.

She became good at it. Very good. Her singing began to not only draw attention, but command it. When she spoke of the legends of old, people walked away with the nagging sense that the characters in those stories were old friends they'd known their whole lives. Her very words could heal or harm with equal ease. She wasn't frightened by this growing power: she was elated. Now she could finally start to make her family proud. And though she spends most of her time at the local tavern playing for coins, she won't be content there forever. There's a whole world beyond Ormskirk, and now she finally has the strength to make her own legend.

Heh, I like it!

On a similar note, Nelie is enchanted with the outside world and has spent much of her life up to adulthood within the confines of the small town, so I could imagine she'd be really interested in all Johan's stories and descriptions of the Wilds and beyond.
If they're established friends she probably nags him about stories as much as he does about playing with her. If they're more like acquaintances and don't know each others that well, I imagine she might look at him with some envy and/or awe over how casually he travels far and wide.
