OOC:
Two successes! One more needed, but that will have to wait till the gator tries to take a chomp on someone, and the other two can try to fight back.

OOC:
if he can attempt to do so, Gabriel will point the light straight at the gator and step forward stomping his feet, letting out loud 'back! Back!' calls etc, to try scare the animal off.

OOC:
You just really want to try that Brute Strength roll, don't you? :D

Sounds like you want to Intimidate it to go away, which is what the Brute Strength roll would be for.

OOC:
hmm... How about a Natural world roll to remember what he knows about alligators? What to do to and not to do...

edit: leaving a roll just in case - disregard if N/A

Rolls

Scientific, Natural World - (4d6)

(4214) = 11

Dr Walker thinks maybe trying to scare them away? That or run away from them. Or curl up? Or is that bears? Oh! Or punch them on the nose?

OOC:
LoL or cuddle it in his arms!
"Let's back off from that thing... stay away from its jaws!" is all he can suggest to the others.

Lillian takes the Doctor's advice and attempts to run for it, losing a shoe in the process.

Rolls

Physical 2 + Athletics 0 - (2d6)

(36) = 9

Lillian and Dr Walker both scramble away from the gator, leaving Samuel, in the pit he has dug (his own grave? It's in the right area, anyway) to fend for himself.

The gator launches itself forward, aiming for Samuel's torso and head, it's jaws opening wide and showing its many, many teeth.
OOC:
Samuel, you're going to have to make a Block and Parry (at least you still have the shovel) roll to avoid being chomped, and since you're in the pit, you're going to need two successes. You'll obviously have to stop trying to pull out the box while you do so, and you can also attack with the shovel (using hand weapons) if you wish to, though again you'll need 2 successes. If you prefer, instead of attacking, you can make an Athketics roll to get out of the pit so that in future rounds, you can more effectively fight (you'll only need the usual 1 success).

Sam, a bit incredulous that everyone else just up and ran, will try to jam the shovel in the gator's mouth before it clamps shut.
OOC:
Oh dice roller, you pesky bitch. Alright, pushing the roll.

Edit: Of course.

Samuel tries to evade the creature's jaws as they fly open, revealing two rows of large teeth, and almost does so, but the mud in the pit and the limited space he has to move means he slips slightly, and, in putting out his hand to steady himself against the edge of the pit, the gator takes the opportunity to bite. Luckily for Samuel, it releases rather keeps hold, possibly because it wants to get a better grasp with those wicked teeth.
OOC:
Samuel needs to make a Physical + Endurance roll to try to limit the damage done. You're currently looking at 3 damage. Also, choose your next action - you can attempt to scramble out of the pit (Athletics roll, 1 success needed) or fight it off (Hand to Hand, 2 successes needed). Lillian and Dr Walker - you can attempt to distract the gator if you wish (Samuel would be able to scramble out of the pit then without a roll, or attack requiring only one success, but you'd be putting yourself in harm's way too - it could go for any one of you then.

Lillian about turns, realising Mr. Weston's predicament; she runs back, grabbing the wayward shoe and then aims a kick with her shod foot at the alligators hide.

Aiming a kick...

Rolls

Physical 2 + Brute Strength 0 - (2d6)

seeing the beast going for Samuel in the hole, Gabriel curses, and tries to taunt the gator by pulling its tail, to distract it from Samuel.
"Damn you, you muddy critter!!"
OOC:
a Dexterity-like roll, to catch the tail in motion? Going for Coordination+Reflexes for now

Rolls

Coordination 2 Reflexes 1 - (3d6)

(145) = 10

Jul 31, 2025 3:30 pm
OOC:
Samuel takes 1 HP in damage, but is free to act now. I'll do the gator reacting once Samuel has acted. :)
Jul 31, 2025 4:43 pm
Shovel in hand, Samuel's eyes narrow and there's a subtle shift in his jawline as it sets firmly in place. The other two had distracted the overly-aggressive reptile a bit, but put themselves in harm's way to do so. With any luck, he could capitalize on the opening they provided. The shovel handle wasn't the sturdiest, but the blade was metal -- and metal hurt.
OOC:
Edit: I fucking hate my life. And since I already marked Physical by pushing once, I cannot do it again right?

OOC:
That's correct I'm afraid. Are you sure you aren't dolling D5s?

You can use your Drive to get a single success if you want to, but you won't be able to use that again for a while. I will say, however, that you're fairly close to the end of this section.
Jul 31, 2025 6:10 pm
OOC:
You know what? You're right. This is the perfect time to Make A Stand. I was put in charge of protecting these two, and this reptile can learn its place.
