It is clear to Thomas that given the size of the stone it would be impossible to move with bare hands, even if you teamed up. There are unsurprisingly no mechanisms to open it either.

Distracted from the gruesome sight by the vase breaking, Lady Bishop turns to the shards and absent-mindedly kicks them away from the group.
"W-well. It appears no one is hurt at least. Maybe there is something useful among this treasure to help us then..."
She moves to look through the room for torches or occult symbols indicating something valuable.

Eugen takes a deep breath (as far as the stuffy air allows to) through his nose. Chin up, chest out!, he thinks.
"We currently have two candles in use. I do have two more. Hence, I suggest the following:
We're trying to find a way out, which still our main goal, I guess. So, I'll take a look at that slab. When the third candle will be close to an end, we'll have to burn the furniture - but that might cost oxygen."
Then he goes close to the slab to inspect it.
The candle in one hand, he picks his small brush from his satchel and puts it between his lips. Then he picks his trowel and starts examining the joints and cracks.
Pushing the trowel into bigger cracks, switching tools, brushing off dust and sand …
Going for Spot Hidden this time, as standard Archeology doesn't seem to get us any further.

As Clara is searching among the treasures, she cuts her hand on something, drawing blood (-1hp)
Eugen takes his time and inspects the stone inch by inch. This will take some time...
What would everyone else like to do while Eugen does his work.

Hearing a sharp intake of breath from Lady Bishop, Thomas turns and sees her bleeding hand.
"May I take a look at that Lady Bishop? I've patched quite a number of scrapes."
Thomas moves to look at the Lady's hand, waiting for her confirmation before proceeding.

Robert watched Eugen work on the wall and then moved to the north side to check on the other room. He wanted to see what other things was present in this chamber.
OOC:
So, I am planning to explore the north section where there seems to be a passage from this room. There are also some broken things in front of the passage.Feb 26, 2025 8:54 pm
"Dr. Whittaker? Are you okay?, Eugen asks over bis shoulder.
Then he says:"We're so lucky to have you here, Thomas! Aren't we, M'Lady?"

A bit unsure about the decorum, but also feeling a little faint from the surprising amount of blood pouring out of her hand, Lady Bishop allows Thomas to remove her glove and bandage up her hand.
"Goodness yes, we are very lucky to have you here with us Mr. Ackerman. I did not quite know what to do when I cut myself over there. I usually observe..."
She looks a little despondent upon the mess she has made and looks around at what she can be useful with. She tries to see if there are openings behind the plaster in the treasure room like Mr. Chornyi saw by the entrance.

Robert realises he doesn't have a light to examine the next chamber. Does someone offer him a candle?Feb 27, 2025 1:25 am
OOC:
@quilltid Of course! Thomas is doing everything he can to ingratiate himself to Lady Bishop. He wants that bonus!OOC:
Thomas would have had to put his candle down somewhere to treat Lady Bishop. Probably jammed it in the crack of the wall somewhere. It would be easy enough for Dr. Whittaker to pick it up and take it if he wanted, since Thomas and Lady Bishop were still in the radius of light of Eugen's candle.Feb 27, 2025 6:13 am
Robert nodded to Eugen, "I am a bit shaken from this bizarre revelation. I wasn't expecting statues made from human bodies. However, this has enlightened me, and I wish to explore the north room."
He then looked at Thomas working on Lady Bishop, "An unfortunate occurence, M'Lady, but this is a rough and strange place. You must have missed the sharp object that has caused you such a wound. Be careful about what you touch. Mr. Ackerman, now that you are done with the bandaging, may I have the candle? I am thinking about exploring that side room. You too can accompany me if you want."

"Something isn't right in that room Doctor," says Thomas. He looks around sees the near impossibility of moving the huge slab Eugen is working on. He sighs.
"But I suppose options are slim. Right then, maybe you can figure something out." Thomas raises the candle, grips his knife tightly and motions for the doctor to move toward the North passageway.

Robert's eyebrows furrowed, "What do you mean, Mr. Ackerman? Did you see something there?"
Feb 27, 2025 3:13 pm
Thomas grabs the candle and leads the way toward the northern room, stepping over the plaster that was stripped away by whoever got here before you to reveal the annex.
The room is modestly filled with religious artifacts, the walls lined with 3 inch high clay cones, that Robert recognises as funerary cones. On the northern and southern walls are two large murals and on the eastern wall is a shrine on which stands an inverted 5 foot tall golden ankh. Hundreds of golden tendrils reach out from the symbol that appear to be moving as the candlelight flickers over them, causing an unsettling sight.
A large mat lies at the shrine's base, on which is sprawled a human skeleton dressed in decaying tatters. Beside the corpse are a satchel and a small sack.

Robert was fascinated by the murals and eagerly read the writings to himself. He was quite surprised to see the corpse and felt unsettled by the lingering shadows of the inverted ankhs. Moving towards the corpse, he examined it from the distance and crouched to check on the satchel.
OOC:
Wow, is the corpse a mummy or someone else? Does it look recent? I would like to check the contents of the satchel too. Also, my history is 5%, and that seems like an anomaly. I mean, I understand that this is a pregen, but a person who read Egyptian Heiroglyps should know something about history. Can I use EDU instead of History?Rolls

Robert realises the symbol normally represents life but the fact that it upside is a perversion of that idea. Add to that the reaching tentacles speak of willful desecration and malign intent.
The skeleton does not appear to be a mummy, certainly someone more recent. The ribs are crushed and the skull is fractured, one or likely both injuries led to the individual's death.

A little out of Robert’s wheelhouse. Might be too rich for luck, but you could try to push, maybe getting closer at the risk of something bad if you fail a second roll. Alternatively you could ask Thomas to take a look, or just ignore it and move on to the bags.load next
