"What is this stuff?" Jharib takes the rod first, knowing that he was sent here for it and its the most important. He then takes and examines the amulet.

Jharib easily determents them to be magical items. However, other than the vial having some defensive or healing properties and the rod containing a powerful enchantment he is uncertain. Both look newly crafted and unused. As he holds both he notices the items seem to oddly react with each other. The closer they get to reach other the more they tingle in his hands but they refuse to touch. A close examination reveals several similar runes and a guess that they are both tied to some enchantment if his best guess

Jharib shrugs and puts it back. "As curious as I am about this, I think it's best I leave it." He turns to Azure. "The last thing we need is to give the guy we just freed a reason to zap us." He locks compartment and waits for Azure to finish.

Zarn watches as Jharib examines the unique items.

"Maybe we should all keep one item to reduce the chance of failure. If the guardian manages to capture one of us, the other two can attempt a rescue."

"Otherwise, we’ll have to use the old bait and switch manoeuvre."

As you are discussing you hear the stairs from below Creek under the weight of someone or something, climbing them.
Feb 18, 2025 6:01 pm
Jharib holds out a palm to signal for silence while putting a finger to his lips. He moves to hide by the door, peeking out carefully.

Rolls

hiding - (2d6)

(65) = 11

Feb 18, 2025 9:29 pm
Azure crouches down behind the table, and prepares for what is approaching.

Rolls

Hide - (2d6)

(25) = 7

Peering down the stairs Jharib spots the golem heading back up the stairs. The room below is dark and gauging the light in the first floor he assumes the outer door is shut. The golem moves in a steady pace and will arrive in a moment.

Pulling back before it turns towards the door Jharib and Azure both conceal themselves from view.
Will let Zarn act before proceeding.

"Seems like they had everything under control before I showed up ... unfortunate."

Zarn rushes to find cover near the side of the door the golem will enter through.

Rolls

Hiding behind cover - (2d6)

(45) = 9

Feb 19, 2025 10:24 pm
Azure concentrates and prepares magic to make the floor beneath the golem soften, so when it enters the room it will fall into the floor, hopefully trapping it.

Rolls

Prepare to soften the floor to trap the golem on entry. - (2d6)

(11) = 2

The golem walks into the room, pausing in the doorway then heads to the shelves an the open compartment where you retrieved to rod from.

Rolls

Golem noticing Jharib & Zarn - (1d6)

(4) = 4

Azure tries to signal to the others to leave the room as the golem is distracted, and sneak out the room.

Rolls

sneaking out the room and down the steps - (2d6)

(63) = 9

OOC:
OK. sneaking and other skills are a bit situational but the basics are "if you are in plain sight you can not hide"

Other than the desk that Azure was using to hide there is not other furniture. I allowed the two to "hide" to either side of the doorway, as I have seen people walk into a room and not notice people standing there. but . . .
golem
Though managing to be quiet, Azure is not quite able to stay out of sight in the open room and the golem turns to see all 3 of you!
OOC:
I will do a partial initiative check here for both Jharib and Zarn.
Roll initiative, 2d6 and sum the total. If you roll over a 7 you get 2 full actions, otherwise you only get 1 before the golem gets to go.
Azure need more than a 7 on initiative for 1 action as she is already moving when caught in the act

Azure startles at the golem's notice! Scrambling to get ready for a fight!
OOC:
EDIT: Got the code wrong for the roll. how do you do sum? Either way, 11!

Rolls

Initiative - (1d6+1d6)

(6) + (5) = 11

Zarn snarls as he jumps backwards in a defensive position.
OOC:
Seems like only one action for me.

Rolls

Partial initiative - (1d6+1d6)

(4) + (3) = 7

OOC:
Both Azure and Zarn can still act. Both descriptions you gave are just narrative content and not system mechanical "Actions" (see combat above : attack, move, focus, evade. Initiative does not count as an action)
Feb 23, 2025 1:40 pm
OOC:
Ok sounds good!
As Zarn enters a defensive position, he slinks low to the ground.
OOC:
Zarn will use his single action to Evade
Feb 23, 2025 6:39 pm
Azure sinks into a stance, gathering power for a large burst of magic to blast the golem back.
OOC:
Focusing for the next attack

The golem quickly analyzes and without hesitating rushes the largest threat, Zarn, swinging twice with great speed and strength but the lizardfolk hunter nimbly evades both attacks.
OOC:
nothing with a roll 5 or higher so both miss without the need for an evasion roll. Player Character turn

Rolls

Golem attack x2 Adv vs Zarn - (3d6, 3d6)

3d6 : (314) = 8

3d6 : (342) = 9

Feb 24, 2025 5:30 pm
Nice dodging!
Azure reels back and unleashes a concussive energy blast at the golem! Hoping to take advantage of its misses to knock it down!
OOC:
Not sure if i can do that. basically a large magic attack to damage and hopefully knock it down or at least away a bit. Im not sure the nest way to handle it. Maybe 1 attack for damage, and 1 attack for knockdown? Ill roll 1 with advantage from the focus and one normally. Let me know if i should change it!

Rolls

Focused magic attack - (3d6)

(313) = 7

Knocking the golem down/away - (2d6)

(41) = 5
