FOOLS! I command you to obey my words. That useless familiar has yet to fetch me a simple rod from my tower. Go back the way you came. You will find what I need in a hidden compartment on my bookshelf on the towers second floor. The key in in my pouch. Take the key, find the rod, and bring it back here. Now do as I command and I may forgive your trespass into my tower.
He sneers condescendingly at you, confident in your immediate obedience.

I was a fool, I reached too far and now must pay the price. I sought be be immortal but refused the path of the undead lich. I sought to take upon myself properties of an elemental and so become an immortal spirit being. But my power is in my magic, not my soul as is the case of elementals. Now my soul is bound to this form which can not wield magic. Trapped. If only I could sleep. . . . I tire of this existence . . .

Jharib easily finds the pouch on the stiff figure. He notes that while some of the metal and crystal has fused with other minerals of the wizards costume it has little effect on the cloth and leather of his clothing and accessories. Thus all the rings, pendants, and neclaces on the wizard have fused with him but his robe, belt, and pouch are still loose. The pouch is easily untied and opening it you see noting but pitch black within.
The dwarf shudders again and he snarls through clenched jaw.
If you but free me we can discuss this more easily. Even speach is exhausting.

You nove back down the tunnel but see no sign of the man. You know he is a strong skilled hunter and the local were wary of the tower. He could have been taken though how that could have happened you are uncertain. He could also have left on his own, but why would he leave without talking to you. Thinking back you realize you have not really noticed him since you descended into the cavers from the store rooms, being somewhat distracted by the winged monkeys promptings.

The familiar continues to croutch just at the edge of sight back where you came from. Azure retraces her steps back to the ladder and up to the storage level. That level too is clear and not sign of Karesohn is to be seen.

As you retrace your steps the semi-petified figure tries to shout after you about brining back the rod then a pause and you hear sobbing fade as you climb back up the ladder.
The storage celars are clear and as you make your way back to the ladder up to the surface you can see faint light at the top. Some one has opened the trap door

Zarn squints into the vertical shaft, and upon first sight of Azure, he leaps back. "Tula! We have company."

Through the still open door Tula and Zarn hear the clomping of the exterior guardian returning. You may be able to flee before it gets close enough to trap you bit if you can hear its approach it must already be close
