Ok to say, our Treasure thread is all available to us? Realizing we had a heavy chest to haul back, some silver to sell, maybe some taxes to pay, etc.? Just wanting to keep with good bookkeeping and not get loot lost in the shuffle.

All the treasure in the group thread is available to you, yes. I think there were a few items you took from the hags as well, but those are with the individual characters who picked them up (the ring and the staff. There were also a few potions, but I'm not sure if any of you took them?)

I will continue the scene at the Sheriff's tomorrow, unless I hear any objections.
I hope I am not pushing too fast? Do tell me if you would like more time to interact with the NPCs (or each other). And that goes not only for this scene.

The chest you found at Mistamere didn't contain any minted coins, but raw gold and silver pieces; old trade bars, ingots, broken jewelry, nuggets, etc. There was simply no central authority during the Traladarn Dark Age, and no one to mint any coins. Precious metals were stored and exchanged by weight.

You can try to sell some of it in Threshold, but keep in mind that this is a small town with limited wealth. There simply isn't enough coin in circulation to buy the entire chest’s worth. Merchants might take a portion of it, especially if you’re willing to accept a lower value. Yor you might barter it; buy tracts of land, a few houses, or other long-term assets. If you want full value, you will do better selling it in a larger city like Kelvin or Specularum, where there are proper jewelers, wealthy patrons, etc.

That said, 100 gold isn't that much, so you can sell part of the pieces, if that's what you want.
There are also plenty of people you can hire in Threshold, but someone with a particular skillset might not be available. What did you have in mind?

Ah, understood! OK I'll assume she can get the basic items I listed then. As for a retainer, perhaps an archer, or maybe a basic footman? Someone to hold the torch, carry a pack, and occasionally help in combat, basically.

The 'helping in combat' part is what is going to drive the price way up. Most people aren't too enthusiastic to risk their lives. 10 gold a month sounds right to me (I know it doesn't match the price ranges in the SRD, but these are a bit wonky)

I don’t know if I want to pursue this particular scenario. I’m kinda stumped, no immediate leads. It seems like, maybe he really did do it lol.

I’ve other things I’d like to do with Will (travel to remove his curse and find his destiny, clear out Mistamere as a possible stronghold etc). Some long term things, but steps maybe required.

So if my fellow players really want to keep with helping Gunthner and have ideas on how to proceed, I’m still in, but at this point I’ve no other skin in that particular game.

I'm of two minds on the subject. One, yes, if he doesn't say anything more useful, we should be on our way. But there is a nagging voice in the back of my brain that says this may be related to our quest.

@Delirium Where might be the best place Will might go to get info on his magical swords etc? I might do that while others go to the next temple.

Humphrey is the most senior wizard in town (and the only one, too, if you discount the adventurers that pass through Threshold). He is your best bet. You can also try the Church, or Balan, the Traladaran priest.
