Artesia says a prayer with the help of Tomas and together the two of them is able to exorcise the malign spirits from the bowl. As they do, you see the Long-horned bison heads start floating. One of them turns to the two chanters and utters in a foul voice. "Venexus will feast on your bones!"

But with a final chant, Artesia casts out the spirit, and the heads fall to the ground again.

As they do, Koram gets a new vision. Suddenly he finds himself transported back to camp. Though not as he knows it, none of the people around you look familiar, but somehow you know they are your kin. They are all laughing and talking when suddenly the earth begins to rumble. Koram (or whoever he is in the visions) rises, looking around as their heart thump in their chest. Demons are attacking the camp. He draws a weapon and rushes to defend his kin. Though just as suddenly, he's back in the room with the rest of you.

Koram shakes the vision from his head, touching his hand to his temple as it leaves him. "I saw something...terrible," he says. He describes what he saw. "I do not know who these people were, or if this was a false vision...or perhaps one of the past or the future, but I felt that fear as if it were real. I do not like any of it."

"Artesia, is the shrine cleansed? No further danger here?"

Artesia nods her head. "I think so," she replies.

"Good," Koram says, reaching out and taking the diamond from the shrine. "I wouldn't normally, but a shrine to a creature like this deserves no respect."

"Where to?" he asks.

OOC:
You have seen all of the caves. You could take the following through. Only thing remaining would be to get rid of the fiendish trees. Without the creatures you should be able to do it from a distance if you can come up with a decent tactic.

"We should sweep the caves to make sure they are clear" Tomas suggests "Maybe burn down those fowl trees we fled from for good measure?"

Iroven was surprised when he saw the visage of the long-horned bison head. He didn't like this place at all. All the demons and the dead body reminded him about the failure of his brother in arms in Mendevean crusade against the demons. Hatred rose in his heart as he gripped his sword hilt tightly, almost scraping the gauntlet on the pommel of the sword. As Koram returned from the vision and Artesia confirmed the shrine was cleansed, he relaxed a bit. "We have recovered Lagofir's and maybe we can use their oils to create flammable arrows or fire bombs? It won't be a problem to face those tree sentinels then."

"Iroven, that is brilliant! I agree, that could be a very sound tactic. Some clay pots filled with the stuff, throw them in, then toss a torch - like we did with the tunnel yesterday...could work."

Argakoa
You head back to the camp and is able to coordinate with Imek, she's already been able to gather up a couple of small clay pots of lagofir oil. You toss the clay pots into the room and with a well aimed torch you see the trees go up in flames. They make a weird shrieking sound as they burn, but moments later, the caves are safe.

With all the threats taken care of, you are able to easily traverse the cave with your following. With almost 100 people it takes some time to get through the caves, but you experience no troubles. And finally the following is also able to look out over the valley.

As you do Argakoa walks over to you. "This is a sight we desperately needed to see: a place of plenty and promise." Argakoa pauses, looking back to scan the faces of the other following members. "You’ve brought smiles to faces, satisfaction to hungry bellies, and hope to hearts. It’s more than we asked of you, but our work isn’t done. There’s no one I trust more to chart our course than you."

"It will be weeks before the Burning Mammoths can pursue us. You’ve bought us time to resupply and recuperate. But this valley is dangerous. We can’t rush in blindly, and we will need to continue our journey east come autumn. For now, the Broken Tusk following will remain in these caves, hidden from Venexus and Ashen Swale. While our people rest, I ask that you survey our surroundings. I’m certain you’ll find allies and enemies in this valley. I trust you to determine which are which."

Argakoa offers a rare smile. "Report back when you can. If you find a safe place deeper in the valley, show us the path. We must put more space between Ivarsa and our people. Can we count on you?"
OOC:
You will also level up to 5th level.

Koram bows his head. "Of course you can. We will make haste and scout ahead. Thank you for your trust in us."
Jul 28, 2025 7:25 pm
After fixing his armor, maintaining his weapon and taking a sound rest, Iroven joined others assuring elder Argakoa that he will move ahead and scout for the rest of the tribes safety.
