Yeahhh, I really love what Schwalb has done with it, but spells not being considered attacks is one of the most easily confusing rules imo. Essentially,
spells don't receive any
benefits or
drawbacks from effects that specifically mention
attacks. As such, the only thing affecting Tzal's spell here is Protection from Magic. As for
attacks, here are the following effects:
- Attacks receive
1 bane from Fearsome.
-
Fearsome is canceled by Battle Blessing.
- Attacks receive
1 boon from Battle Blessing.
- Attacks receive
1 bane from Protection from Magic because of Battle Blessing.
= Net 0 Boons. This would be a net 1 bane if it weren't for Battle Blessing.
This does mean that I was wrong in that Wolfram would not receive an a net boon from Battle Blessing, my bad @Windyridge. However, the lack of banes does mean he would still get his Trickery boon and damage.
Spells aren't affected by Battle Blessing or Fearsome, so they are stuck with 1 bane from Protection from Magic. That part is fortunately easy to explain.
