Merry Christmas, Joyous Yule, Happy Hannuka, Glad Kwanza, Felicitous Saturnalia, and anything else you happen to celebrate! And if none of the above apply, have a great Thursday!

Created a poll to resolve the current in-game encounter.

How should we respond to the Dream Pastries peddler? Public

Follow her and see where she goes. (Continues the encounter.)
Let her leave and move on to something else. (Ends the encounter.)

Like I said- Taniwah and Amalthea left together. If they pursue the Crone, that is entirely their decision. It was very clear they were leaving together- so the party had already been split.

Based on how I'm reading the scene, it seems like Amalthea and Taniwha are acting as the face of the party right now, but they're not so far ahead that it counts as a party split. I think Taniwha is freely going back and forth to engage with the party, as seen when he
Mathfuric says:
pulls his hood about him and hesitates, looking for advice or guidance form the others . . .
It all just depends on how each individual interprets the stage direction of the scene, but I want to err on the side of keeping the party together and avoiding a party split unless it becomes an absolute necessity. If there are no objections, especially from @Mathfuric or @quilltid, I want to move on with the whole party able to consider the encounter (i.e. thru the poll or dialogue).

Mathfuric says:
Once shown his room, Taniwha leaves to find Amalthea. "We should get our equipment from Shaelyn‘s place, if we are to stay here the night. There must be a few more hours of day left? Maybe we can swing by this grieving mother house, see if we can help her?"
SenorDeebs says:
Having no possessions except what he carries, and not wishing to intrude- Martin busies himself with settling in as a guest of Ismark and Ireneena.
Whatever you all decide-

I saw the discussion between Amalthea and Taniwha as an open discussion and invitation (and I might have been wrong in that interpretation), so Shaelyn followed. It was my assumption (I know, I know) that everyone accompanied them, precisely to avoid splitting the party.

I’m good with whatever you decide. I read the encounter as exclusive between two characters so I did not intrude.

If it's inconsequential if Taniwha and Amalthea follow the crone, that is fine if the group moves on to keep the story moving. Just to be clear though, where is everyone currently? And if the tiefling and dwarf do not follow the crone, will the whole group arrive at Shaelyn's home or at the grieving mother's home together?

I feel this is mostly my fault. I wasn't paying close enough attention to where everyone was going, and I didn't mean to let things get disorganized. I think my policy on splitting the party is to only do it when it's necessary and when everyone has something interesting to do. I would not have sprung the random encounter if I realized it would mean that Brother Martin (and Deebs) would have to spend more time outside of play.

How about we say that Amalthea and Taniwha can gather whatever they need from Shaelyn's house without incident, and then the scene can cut to the full party reuniting at Mad Mary's house? Alternatively, if the dwarf and the tiefling want to follow the crone then perhaps the ones who stayed at home would feel content with some RP with the NPCs? Let me know how you feel about this.

I don’t think we are going to follow, being split is not a good time to follow.

Sounds good, let's move the story on and have the group get back together at Mad Mary's house.
