I was thinking of trying a Grave Domain Cleric. I made one a while back but the game fizzled out. Are we starting at level 1? And we're using the '14 rules, but things like Tashas and Xanathar's are ok, yes? Standard starting gear? Are we rolling HP in thread?

Brother Martin Crowley is an imposing figure- tall for a human, black haired (shot through with the grey of a man in his waning years) . He dresses in the dark clothing of his order, wearing a cloak of raven feathers and a stovepipe hat that sits atop a bright red kerchief. His dour face shows expression as rarely as his deep monotone voice registers joy. Despite that he is known for a quiet gentleness around those whose time is at an end, giving them comfort at their final hour.

Hi new players! I'm glad you've all begun to get to know each other and talk about classes. I'm glad to have all five of you. @WhtKnt a native Barovian is great, that's one of the things that got you accepted. It's a unique concept that I'm super excited for, since from my experience no one really goes for a native Barovian or someone from Ravenloft.

@SenorDeebs you and the other new players should make your PCs at 3rd-level. Taniwha and Amalthea are 2nd-level, but escaping the Death House will bump them up to 3rd-level.

P.S. Happy belated Halloween, I had a busy one so sadly I didn't get to say this on the day. Let's have more horrific adventures in Ravenloft!

Both of the new PCs have been approved. @SenorDeebs, sorry I didn't answer this before but do try to use 2014 material rather than 2024. Supplements like Xanathar's and Tasha's are perfectly fine. However you want to do HP is fine.

Hi all, sorry for the quiet week. Given that both the current PCs are unconscious, how do we feel if the new PCs come to wake them up and nurse them back to health? Then the whole party can adventure at full strength together? If it sounds like a good idea, I'll set the scene and then we can get into it.

No objections here- and right up my characters alley, so to speak.

My only addition is- my character believes in committing the dead to the ground, to be reclaimed by his god- the earth elemental lord Grome. He will do this by default with the dead unless other more specific burial instructions are known to him for the individual.

In this case, He’d have to sense in some way that their lives were left unfinished, that they still had more to do. The DM can indicate that in whatever manner they wish.

With NPC’s he’d do it with a coin toss (his holy symbol) - one side of the coin bearing the symbol of earth (for Grome) and the other water (Straasha).

Ok, I just went forward with the new scene. You may notice that I kind of flubbed the rules to let Taniwha and Amalthea wake up without medical attention, but I figure the story will move forward more easily this way. I do not mean to start a trend of saving the PCs from certain death; you will be able to live or die on your own merit once the meat of the story is under way.
