Character Creation Area

All creation prior to start is here. Let's have fun. Updated as needed.

CHARACTER GENERATION INFO: You do not have to roll anything.
* Books: Characters are made with the PHB.
* Ability Scores: Standard array. 15 – 14 – 13 – 12 – 10 – 8
* Race: Dragonborn, Dwarf, Gnome, Half-Elf, Halfling, Half-Orc & Human.
* Class: Any except warlock class.
* Extra: No familiars, companions, pets, or any exotic something you can think of.
* Feats: None allowed
* Forgotten Realm Deities: Pick a deity.
* Alignments: Neutrals to Good. Party unity expected.
* Gender: Male or Female. Doesn't have to match the player.
* Age: 20's to 30's (Human range).
* Height: All characters have one and should be stated in their character description area besides race & gender as well.
* Languages: Make sure you have them.
* Background: This is sandbox, so any backgrounds feature that effect sandbox are up to the GM discretion. All players have traveled here. Many features are not being used. Backgrounds do not have to come from the PHB.
* PC Level: Level 1.
* HP: Max at level 1 and the class stated number for later levels.
* Personal Characteristics: Will be 2 Personal, 1 Ideal, 1 Bond, & 1 Flaw. (Any Source)
* Lifestyle: Moderate Lifestyles. Character have paid for 30 days (free).
* Gear: Maximum class cash, trinket, Packs may be purchased but will be broken down. Pay attention to carrying device limits. Attached sacks to backpack are fine. State where all items are. Clothing is expected with armor and is worn under the armor.
* Travel: Think about being outdoors for rations. Waterskins cover drinking.
* Encumbrance: Standard encumbrance rules. 15xSTR before problems happen.

Below is a sample item's area. Please create something similar. Carrying devices in blue. All other standard items in bold. Location info in green. Organized areas. View sample if you are not familiar with color & bold commands.

Is the any class except warlock limited to PHB? the wording confuses me a bit... And about no feats, does it mean that during lvl up we can only pick ASI?

Can we use point buy instead of the standard array?

Bubbles. Sometimes hard to get everything express in writing. All classes are limited to the PHB and the warlock class is not available for play. Characters will not have any starting feats. Human option is not available. I do like most all the character sheets to be closer and alike to when I have to view them for information and why I only use the standard 5e sheets which I have found to work fairly well. Characters are level 1.

May I create a custom background or swap a skill in the class list?

Wait, so for gear do we have to use gold, or we can still use the standard class gear?

rpgventurer. Bubbles just asked about custom sheets and the answer was no. Only use the standard 5e sheets for your poor old DM's eyes. Skill swapping could really only occur if your class skills and background skills overlap which is rare but happens.

Bubbles I see your character there and soon will look it over. :) As I just arrived home. I also see that all the invitation have been accepted which is good for getting going.

Bubbles. Wow. You win the prize for the most filled out character ever sent to for the first try. LOL. You can hunt your character for it.

AnonGL. Sorry I missed you earlier. Just the way things are thrown at me. You have your max class gold and a trinket for your items on your character. You may NOT use the given class gear or your background gear.

So far we have a male Half-Elven ranger & a female Forest Gnome wizard. Hope to hear from AnonGL & rpgventurer soon. And perhaps someone else will ask to join us. Hmmm Xcylla.

Would it be alright to assume I've got material for the Minor Illusion spell, a bit of fleece, even though I haven't purchased a component pouch?

It's from a race feature rather than a wizard spell, so I don't think I can use an arcane focus in place of the material component.

AnonGL. Game wise, I would go with attached sacks. They make more sense. Cheaper to buy. And have the same carry capacity as backpacks. Best solution is a backpack with attached sacks for more carry capacity.

exca314. Race added it to your cantrip list. If a cantrip has a material component listed, then it needs it for casting. How you have it on your cantrip list doesn't matter. I would advise a component pouch or arcana focus. Both component pouch and arcana focus are the same in use mechanically. I wouldn't want to have to track individual general material components. Only track those that a component pouch or arcana focus doesn't cover.

Alright! I do have an arcane focus in my inventory, so I will use that.

exca314. A wand is nice piece of wood and not really a pocketable item. Most common means of dealing with is to state a FREE holder attached to your clothing's belt. The wand is the same size as the one any Human wizard would have. I'm assuming your wand listed is an arcane focus.

Strange that you have two wands listed on your character. I'm guessing this is an oversight.

Gotcha. I was thinking of something about the shape of an umbrella pocket in raincoats, but I can move it to the belt and move one of the pouches to the backpack. Don't want to overload the belt considering a gnome's size.

The second wand is a backup. Hard to get a good wand when you're out in the wilderness and you accidentally drop it into a lake while trying to ward vicious geese away! I don't know how druids do it with a bundle of leaves, you need quality material for the most efficient manipulation of the Weave. :D

I'm not expecting to need quick access to it, so it's just in the sack. Wasn't sure how wands are typically carried... to be honest, I've never really thought about it before. Would something like a sturdy scroll case be a better container, or could it also have some sort of free container?
