Just a note as we begin combat with a werewolf: I'm going to rule that, while a PC is in a non-humanoid form (like a druid's Wild Shape or a polymorph), the PC does not have to make saves against lycanthropy when bitten. But if a PC is bitten while in a humanoid form, they do have to make the saving throw.

So in this specific circumstance, Morik is not at risk of contracting lycanthropy this round.

That seems fair.

Or... what if that form contracts lyconthropy? Then, if he turns into a bear during a full moon, he turns into a werewolf! 🤣

I was sooooo wondering about that. Had a moment to worry, "Great, now we have two werewolves."

... ya ... one werewolf is enough, thank you very much!

Also, @spaceseeker19 , I think I saw a post before about this but it looks like things MAY have changed. Is there a colour code to follow for NPCs, PCs, spells, etc. when writing our texts?

@MaJunior !! WHY DO YOU DO THIS!?! YOU HAVE TOO MUCH POWER IN THE CURRENT CHAOS!

Must establish dominance. And the bear robbed me of MY kill!

So either I go kill something bigger... or I piss on all of you and claim you as property. Your call.

... [insert table flip rage quit meme here]. Juniper is sitting here like, "Lunea ... is this the mission you had for me? Or can I peace out and find a new mission?" LMAO!

... just let him kill the drake. Honestly. It's way better than the alternative.

Hey, I’m following the bears lead lol!

In a word, no.

I have conventions I use, but I have no expectation that anyone else follow them.

We can probably take on a drake, but I dunno if Morik would know that, and he fears for Adran's life.

Literally, every other game I've ver done treats a Nat 1 as fail no matter what, Silver Tongue be damned. So my reactions are ... knee-jerk. It's a relief we don't use that here because this encounter in particular has been really rough for me with the digidice.
That's a houserule, and I would argue it's not a good one. Especially if it's blatantly nerfing class features.

I started playing only a couple years ago and the DM used that rule. I was unaware that it was a house rule. The whole party was a bunch of noobs so we didn't know any better and now that we've branched off to run our own games as well, we were none the wiser. I will be bringing this back to them because WHEW.

Would've been a cool wearbear though

5.5 puts that rule back in. 1 = fail / 20 = success

Still only for combat, as far as I’m aware.

Correct.
It was that way in the 2014 edition as well -- 1s and 20s only matter for combat. For skill checks, all that matters is if you beat the DC. You can roll a 20 and fail, or roll a 1 and still succeed.

And class abilities that "treat any number lower than X as X" make that 1 into whatever number X is anyway.

Game says:
Adran takes 1 poison damage!
It's kind of amazing how much the dice like you in this encounter, isn't it? Between the ogre, the Poison Spray, and your saves vs the Moonbeam, it's like the universe is conspiring to keep Adran from experiencing too much harm. Maybe it really wants to see a fight between a werewolf and a drake after all...

If a werewolf bites a dragon, will the scaly beast turn furry at fullmoon?

It's fun to imagine how a wolf-dragon hybrid might manifest (a bat-winged dog? A cross between a sugar-glider and a dachshund, because every dragon's limbs are so short* relative to a humanoid's?). But lycanthropy is a purely humanoid curse/disease; with the rules as written, it cannot be transmitted when biting any target without the humanoid trait (which is why the ogre - a giant - did not have to roll saves when Adran bit it). So for example, a dragonborn could become a werewolf, but a dragon turtle could not.

* - except for green dragons, of course, which are canonically tall with very long legs like giraffes.
