Statue Skirmish - Round 2
Completing Round 2 …

Ricard withdraws through the western door (fortunately, it is unlocked) and finds himself in a dusty bedchamber. The once-fine furnishings include a four-poster bed, a desk and a chest. There are no other visible exits. The door closes behind Ricard, so he loses visibility of the ongoing combat.

Still shaken by the untimely demise of Johann, Pickles' second silver arrow is also wide of the mark. However, Gabbro’s sling stone hits the statue, causing further damage to its crystal body.

Luther, left facing the statue alone, misses with his mace.

The statue retaliates, but it misses Luther with both of its bludgeoning fists.

---

Moving to Round 3, before we roll initiative, does Luther plan to withdraw or flee from melee, and/or does anyone plan to cast a spell?

OOC:
Not for my part; I think we want to make sure that Luther and Ricard have cover while they're trying to escape, and I remain confident that Sleep won't do any good here.

Luther attacked last round, so he is still in melee with the statue. He is the only Hellion still in melee. Rather than attacking, Ricard performed a Fighting Withdrawal last round, which is why he was able to escape to the west. The door to the west is closed but not locked. So, if Luther wants to join Ricard in the bedchamber, he will need to Withdraw in Round 3.

In terms of the others …

- Horath is out of melee, about 15’ away from the southern door.

- Pickles and Gabbro are next to the southern door.

Let’s roll initiative for Round 3 …

Rolls

Crystal living statue initiative for round 2 - (1d6)

(2) = 2

Oct 1, 2025 10:51 pm
"Luther - we don't want to leave without you!" Gabbro yells as he slings another stone at the statue (he's assuming that Ricard has safely made it to safety in the other direction, though once he has a few moments to consider it he'll realize how foolish it is). The stone slips out of the pocket too soon and smacks into the ceiling.

Having seen Johann fall and now the party split, Pickles gathers himself and rallies behind Gabbro just outside the door. "Don’t leave me this way!" He yells out as he draws an ordinary arrow, slows his breath and releases . . .

Ricard, not liking that the door closed behind him, will try to open the door again to check on his companions. If he still sees Luther in melee he will rush in to attack the statue as well...
OOC:
am I able to move and attack?

Yes, you can do that ... roll away! Luther just took a big chunk out of it, so it's very much on its last legs. Although, bear in mind that initiative is tied for this round, so anyone who moves into melee runs the risk of being attacked.

OOC:
Can't leave Luther to face it alone...
Ricard, seeing that the evacuation didn't happen, rushes in to attack!

Statue Skirmish - Round 3
Ricard and Horath come barreling back into the fray, the fighter with a brutal strike that creates a catastrophic brittle crack that spreads throughout the statue’s body, shattering it into many pieces.

But … before it collapses completely, it manages two final strikes at the Hellions before it.

I’m going to roll randomly to see who it attempts to take with it with each of its final two attacks: 1= Horath, 2 = Luther, 3 = Ricard.

As the statue collapses to the floor, spreading fragments of crystal in every direction, its left hand catches Ricard with a nasty blow to the side of his head, putting the fighter on the very brink of death …

"Wow - that was a hell of a blow!" Gabbro compliments Ricard, then moves to his side as the fighter staggers. "Whoa - are you well? Lean on me." To Luther he asks: "Do you still have magic to heal him?"
Oct 3, 2025 4:55 pm
Luther will reach out to touch Ricard say a prayer and cast CLW.

Rolls

CLW - (1d6+1)

(5) + 1 = 6

Pickles stands momentarily stunned by the final battle which just occurred, then sees Ricard stagger. Holstering the bow he moves forward to help but feels a bit helpless with no skills to offer, the Halfling stands nearby shuffling on his feet as Luther attends to the warrior.
Oct 3, 2025 11:52 pm
Ricard sways, his fist a rictus grip around the Hilton of his sword, the words of his companions coming as though from under water. He nods at Gabbro as though in understanding though the words bounce off his hemorrhaging head. As Luther steps in to deliver the mercy of the gods, a soothing white light spreads through Ricard's head and erases the pain within.

"Woah, thanks for that Luther, I do feel better. Think I could still do with some down time though. The room beyond the door there is a bedroom of some sort, maybe we can check it out then head back to the Korners, or something like that."
Oct 4, 2025 11:36 pm
Pickles smiles brightly at Ricard, "Wow Ricard, what a strike! So glad you made it through, I would not want to be telling your tale without you around." And with that the Halfling looks to recover any of his arrows, before his eyes come upon poor Johann once again and a little darkness returns. He moves to the body and closes the Gnome’s eyes, "Maybe we should put him with Sister Jessica?"

Now that it seems clear that Ricard can stand on his own, Gabbro leaves his side to see if there's anything that can be salvaged from this calamitous escapade. He examines the chunks of crystal that broke off of the statue: might they be worth something? Then, processing what Ricard has said, he moves through the western door to examine the bedroom more thoroughly as the fighter suggested.

"Yes, Sister Jessica, absolutely."

Ricard shakes the cobwebs out of his head and follows Gabbro into the bed chamber in case the four poster comes alive and tries to eat them.
