Burbage says:
So, what's the plan?
In response to Ricard's suggestion, there's no "standard" way to break down a one-way door. For example, it can't be done with a standard Strength-related check or similar. You would need to come up with something specific and out of the ordinary if you wanted to try to brute force it. Also, bear in mind that the dwarves would probably take considerable exception to you damaging the beautiful stonework. As a player, I'm very much in favor of banking on the good will of Gruk and the other orcs and heading back up that passageway. It's not a great option, but we don't have any of those. It's just the best option.
[ +- ] Stonehell level 1

We are currently in the "Dwarf Art" room (upper left quadrant of the map).
The options, as I see them, are:
- retrace our steps to the "graffiti" room and head west*
- go back to Kobold Korners, buy some mining tools, and make our own exit (very noisy, very showy, very time-consuming)
- head southeast, toward the "off-limits" and undead areas the orcs warned us about*
- head way south and then west, exploring past the "Blue" grotto room*
- head all the way back to "Kobold Korners" and try to push north into the "Private" area*
- head down to level 2 to see if there's another way back up down there*
- give up on returning to the surface and keep exploring the southern half of the dungeon (there's a bunch of doors we haven't explored yet)
(Note 1: none of the options marked with an asterisk * are certain to connect to a route back to the surface. However, the route past the orcs seems the most likely to me; it certainly is the most direct of the uncertain routes.
Note 2: The fact that the Ghost Beggars tried to shake us down on the surface suggests either that the Ghost Beggars are split into multiple groups, or that they have another way out, since they wouldn't be welcome to come and go by the Open Sores. But do we really want to take time now trying to figure out that other route? I don't think so.)
