The commander returns to the tower with her second in command. Time passes as sundown comes. The group reforms and heads out as instructed. After about an hour along the path given, the party starts to see flashes in the distance. Based on the directions, the party is still about 15 minutes away from their destination. After a quick talk amongst the members, the party continues, still having a job to do.
When they arrive, they don't find a group of hobgolins and goblins, but the aftermath of a war zone. Stone arches that were likely part of an old ruin lay scattered as if recently forced apart in an explosion. Plants seem singed as if strike by some kind of energy. Corpses lay on the floor. The fight seemed rather one-sided, as there is no corpse beyond hobgoblins and goblins. The corpses have familiar features of withered limbs and skull tattooed faces.
OOC:
What would you like to do upon arrival? You can try to investigate what happened further, or look into the traps you were told to trigger, or anything else you would like to do. The area is rather large. I am assuming you are sticking near each other for safety in case something happens unless someone says they are wandering away from the party to investigate something far away but within sight.
You can attempt skill checks against a DC of 15, or 20 if it is obscure or harder to figure out than other pieces of information. Make a flat d20 roll and then mention in your text what ability score and background you think would apply and why. If I agree I will say so in my reply. If I disagree, I may propose something else I see on your character sheet. Either way, roll the d20 and add you level but nothing else. I will add the ability modifier and background if I agree
