Wanted to ask, do you guys feel like that last fight was unfair or do you think it was fair but the enemy just got really lucky? Do you want to know what stat block the enemy had, or leave that to the past?
I'm not sure. Would it have been fine if not for the crit? Maybe. As the paladin, I had the option to either heal Hrafe or make it harder for him to die, and I chose to make it harder for him to die. But that was coming from a place of no experience or knowledge. Maybe I should have healed him.
Even if he had max HP from rolling high on a recovery die from your lay on hands, that would have been 40-64, which would be -24, which is less than negative half his HP. Idk if I would have remembered the rule of when you die at the time, but he would have gone down either way. The enemy dealt 24 damage per hit and deat +2d6 (7 average) on a natural even hit. He could 2 shot anyone in the party, and he happened to roll a nat20
I'll give @Furmyr until thursday to say if he wants to use his icon relationship die result to help with Hrafe. If I don't hear, then i'll take suggestions from everyone else.
Sounds good. I probably should have done a mention sooner. Do you want to take this chance to come up with who the NPC is, or just let me come up with one? Want to give you the chance since this is your icon relationship die
There is no expectation of posting on the weekend. However, my last post was on the 18th, i will advance the story sometime Monday afternoon if I see nothing.
Understood, thank you for the update. It seems the party wants to scout what the figures are, and not sure if Makasi would be party of any scouting party so that should work out. Appreciate the heads up
@Ironmonger42 — Just curious if you're backing the 13th Age 2e Kickstarter. I backed it on the strength of this game. When I eventually get an in-person group together again, I want to have options for when everyone asks to play D&D. :)
Assuming our game is still going when the new books come out, it might be interesting to see how things are different and whether it's worth the switch. I'll be curious how things change, at the very least.
Yes, I did back the kickstarter for the 2nd edition. Looking forward to seeing the changes. Sounds like it is backwards compatible, but not exactly sure if that means a 1st edition character and a 2nd edition character can play together with no issues.
I also got the add-on to get the big d6/escalation die hahaha
There's some adjustments at the top end that you'd have to apply to 1e characters to get them to work, but it's minimal. In general, I like the way the 2e characters feel more than 1e - although there are exceptions.
I didn't realize they had a beta pdf of the books already. I went back to the kickstarter and found the link. I'm glancing at it now, though mostly focused on the initial part where they lists the changes. Not going to change anything in this game unless I hear something that just makes so much sense that I have to ask you all if you want to do it.
