Why is Naagdhar receiving "special" treatment? Is that a clue? He was unattended last visit. Is he being visited exclusively on the next visit?

Possibly. Maybe there is something about his appearance or build or circumstances at the village which warranted it?

With all the racket, maybe we could risk making a lot of noise? Maybe kicking the doors on the cages hoping to break them open? Or, would that be impossible?
Another idea is to just start yelling, hoping to get the attention of the attackers. Maybe they will be friendly?

If the ship is under attack, then the crew has an enemy. That enemy is then our allies? They will set us free?
So we wait until the battle is over, and then make noise. Of course if the ship sinks... well... Based on the narrative, I assume the ship has approached land?

That was my thought too. We're being delivered somewhere and either pirates or good guys are attacking the ship we're on.
