Character Creation in a mechanical sense will proceed as outlined in the SRD (or core rules).
Meaning, roll 3d6 --> take the lowest of the three for the Ability's Bonus --> add 10 to find the Ability's Defense (do this for each Ability). If desired, you may swap two of the ability scores.
Concerning Background and character origins: The core rules of Knave present several tables that produce a series of Traits for randomized characters, however, I would like for our three PCs to come from the same place of origin. That being one of a tribe. Originally I thought of a tribe akin to the Native Americans of historical/ancient North America (Cree, Cherokee, Seminole, Creek, et cetera). Therefore, the "backgrounds" could be hunter, scout, herbalist, or something that would reasonably fit into a tribal-like society and culture that reflect the area of your PC's greatest focus and speciality. The other Traits concerning appearance and the like are up to you.
Don't worry about alignment. I prefer to think of alignment as a fluid characteristic based upon your PC's interactions, decisions, et cetera.
For purposes of character flavor and maybe to inspire roleplay. . .choose or create one Vice and one Virtue that is a part of your PC's personality.
Physical Appearance and other associated Traits are primarily up to each player, however, I'd ask that your skin tones and perhaps hair colors be similar. I gave the example of copper/tan skin, but I'm open to whatever you all think.
The PC's will start out as captives, so no need to worry about equipment/possessions.
Start with MAX HP!
Roll for traits below and please chime in with any questions.
