Hello! My name is Daniel, and I'm actually extremely familiar with the "play-by-post" structure; throughout middle school/high school I was pretty active in an online Legend of Zelda RPG forum that was structured very much like a DnD game, although I had never actually played DnD or any other pen and paper rpg for that matter. I've had a growing interest in it for the past year or two and finally a couple months ago I picked up the DnD 5e Starter Box. I didn't have enough friends interested in trying it out with me, unfortunately, so me and my two buddies who did had to improvise. I reluctantly opted to DM and let them play two characters each - so it's not going exactly how it's probably supposed to, but we're having fun and making up a lot of it as we go.

Anyway, one of the things I was wishing for was a play-by-post system like the Zelda rpg I was used to, but just for actually playing DnD. And I did some searching a while back and was disappointed that I couldn't find anything. That would have solved my issues of not having people nearby I could play with. Then, lo and behold, I see this website get a mention on a tumblr post! And here I am, super excited that this is a thing that actually exists, and ready to give it a go... I just need some campaigns to jump into haha DM'ing is more fun than I had anticipated, but I still really want to join up and just play... as a PC. Stoked to finally get the chance. I just have to get around to actually picking up the Player's Handbook and learning how to make a character instead of using the pre-generated ones from the starter box...

Whoa, GP was mentioned on a Tumblr post? Got a link? I'm curious!

That aside, welcome! Hope this gets you hooked and you find some real life games too! PbP is a nice alternative when you can't get a RL game, but nothing quite beats a face to face!

outofcontextdnd got a question about online tabletop gaming, and someone reblogged it mentioning this site.

This is where I found it.

Welcome, Daniel. I hope you enjoy your stay. I'm sure the old adage is true, "You can't play just one game."
