Hullo, folks,

Just thought I'd start my presence here at Gamers' Plane by introducing myself.

My name is John M. Kahane. I'm 59 years old, was born in England, but live in Ottawa, Ontario, am working as a translator, and have been roleplaying for close to 40 years now.

I'm an avid English football fan, love tennis and ice hockey, am an avid amateur archaeologist and palaeontologist, an avid reader of fantasy, science fiction, many mysteries, and historical works and non-fiction, write creatively in my spare time (such as it copiously is! ), have a fascination with various aspects of science, and am a huge music fan (Jethro Tull, Thea Gilmore, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Renaissance, The Strawbs, Abney Park, The Cog Is Dead, and several others are my long-time favourites). I've been a huge fan of time travel and dinosaurs, not necessarily in that order, since I was a relatively small child, and love stuff that combines the two.

When it comes to my roleplaying experience, well... I've been gaming, primarily running rpgs, for close to 40 years, as I mentioned. So I'll confine my listing here of rpg games to science fiction; otherwise the list would be huge. :) My roleplaying experience with sf rpgs includes TRAVELLER, UNIVERSE RPG (from SPI), SPACE: 1889, 2300 AD, ORBIT, SPACE OPERA, WORLDS BEYOND, SKYREALMS OF JORUNE (which I consider science fiction), BLUE PLANET, OTHER SUNS, FADING SUNS, and THOUSAND SUNS. And several other sf rpgs that I just can't remember at the moment. :)

I'm considering running one of two PbP games here on Gamers' Plane. Either the Primeval RPG from the folks at Cubicle 7, or the River of Heaven RPG from the folks at D101 Games. Once I've decided which of the two games I'll run here, I'll post up more in the appropriate thread about the game. :)

Anyway, glad to be here. Any thoughts, comments, or questions are welcome. :)

Thanks for joining up John! I've always had a blast talking with you on Twitter; I hope you enjoy your time here equally. I'm really happy you're looking at starting up a game too! Lets see if we can build up some interest in those, shall we?

Very good to have you onboard, seems like you bring a wealth of knowledge with you. Nice to see another Abney Park fan, I am currently running their rpg on skype and posting recaps here on GP. Feel free to message me if you need any help. By English football I assume you mean Association football, personally i play Rugby Union and much prefer that but to each his own. Welcome again friend

Welcome to Gamer's Plane, John. I'm new myself, but have found the community to be active for its size.

Same here. It's been good meeting (so to speak) new folks over on Twitter that share my love of rpgs (among other subjects), and I hope that the spirit of roleplaying is something that folks here embody and all.

Sounds like a good idea, and solid plan to me. :)

Yeah, been gaming for several decades. Been through a lot of different game systems. and have a wealth of gaming knowledge and experience. Not a lot of PbP experience, though I've run several games on other sites, notably Yahoogroups.

While I'm a fan of the band and the game, I'm not able to run the game on my two gaming groups. Neither of them likes the "feel" of the game. :(

Count on it! :)

It's not the community size that's a factor or its activity, so much as the quality of the folks posting here and other factors. I'm looking forward to running a game (or two) here on GP, but we'll see how things go and all that. :)

Oh, and thanks for the welcome. :)

Thanks for the welcome. :) And yes, it is a long time roleplaying. Too many systems to even remember them all at my age. (Mind Like A Sieve (MLAS(tm)). :)

I'm not sure what insights into games and roleplaying I can offer, but I'll do my best. :)
